A SURF'S UP STORE PARTY - COCOCOZY FOR TOMMY HILFIGER - PART 3!

Inside the Tommy Hilfiger flagship store in Los Angeles at the Surf Shack Collection launch party

Last night three brands came together - Tommy Hilfiger, Kelly Cole and COCOCOZY - to introduce Tommy Hilfiger's Surf Shack collection at a sparkling cocktail party at the Tommy Hilfiger store on Robertson Blvd in Los Angeles.

Oh what a night it was!  So many wonderful people (all my wonderful friends), lots of champagne (I drank water all night though because I had so many people to chat with), great music, and a fantastic setting.  I only took about 10 pictures at the beginning of the party and then got caught up in the whirlwind of it all...I spent the entire evening toting around my camera though...threatening to take a photo but I never did!  These photos were taken at about 7pm...just before the party started.

Anyhooo...let me start by saying a huge thank you once again to Amie Robinson, Director of Research and Development for Tommy Hilfiger. Amie is the one who spearheaded the COCOCOZY partnership with the uber fashion brand. She is amazing...a dear good friend. Amie was so kind and sweet to introduced me a few years back to the whole Tommy team. Then I have to say another huge thank you to Jann Parish, VP of Marketing at Tommy Hilfiger. Jann was the architect of our fun partnership with Tommy Hilfiger...which included COCOCOZY making pillows for the Surf Shack capsule collection of laid back summer beachwear. Lastly, my design crush or crush crush, Trent Wisehart, Creative Director North America and EVP of Global Creative Services for Tommy who said "yes" to the whole idea of partnering! Also thanks to Amy Robb and Ben Wymer from Tommy who were so nice to me over the last few months!  And it was so nice seeing Grace and meeting John (who is a designer at Tommy)!

Now that my Academy Award speech is done...onto the few images I took at the event.

I have to say a quick huge thank you to my sis DS for showing up and all of my fantastic friends (JF, AG, BN, SN, JD, AB, TH, JH, PS, MN, JF, MF and so many more).  Also thank you to the adorable COCOCOZY VP of Operations, CM and cute adorable COCOCOZY assistant NG for coming too.  Lots of new friends came too like Karen, Sagi, Kendal, Mika, Courtney, Roger and Michael!  So great to see everyone!

This weekend I am going to head over the Surf Shack mobile pop up shop in Venice Beach on Abbot Kinney to see our COCOCOZY pillows on display and I want to get this cute dress I am coveting from the collection!

ARCHITECTURAL DIGEST STORY ABOUT COCOCOZY - PRESS ALERT

architectural digest website Nbaynadamas article feature story press
Screen grab of COCOCOZY feature on Architectural Digest's website! (above)

COCOCOZY on Architectural Digest! Woohooo! Wow! Whoa! Yippee!!!

Was so thrilled when I saw that an Architectural Digest Q&A about COCOCOZY went up on the venerable publication's website a few days ago.

The article was written by Architectural Digest's Associate Market Editor Stephanie Schomer and it was based on a phone interview I did with her a few months back. The phone call lasted about an hour...Stephanie asked very focused and well edited questions...my answers on the other hand were filled with tangents, asides, long musings...the usual COCOCOZY babble.  Note to self: learn to self edit.  Anyhooo, Stephanie very keenly pulled out the relevant points in her story and came up with Q&A worthy of Architectural Digest.

The Q&A delves into how COCOCOZY started 5 years ago as a blog and has grown to encompass a lot more.

The feature also focuses on this year's new furnishings lines including: COCOCOZY for Capel Rugs; COCOCOZY Bed Linens by Downtown; and a mention of my latest partnership, COCOCOZY for Tommy Hilfiger.

To read the full article on the Architectural Digest website, click here!

Hope you enjoy and get inspired to follow your passion!

Thank you Stephanie and also a big thanks to the really nice Parker Bowie Larson, Architectural Digest's Style Editor,  for wanting to do a story on the collection. I am truly honored!

Happy Tuesday!  Hope you all had a nice long weekend!

COCOCOZY LIGHT & RICHARD SERRA!

Richard Serra, Iceland (1991) etching hanging above a sofa full of COCOCOZY pillows at my sis DS's house!(above)

I took this photo a bit ago...the COCOCOZY Light pillow collection on a sofa at my sister's house sitting under a striking Richard Serra etching.  We were shooting all of the pillows for the catalog at sis DS's.  Normally I wouldn't line up this many pillows on a sofa...but the purpose was to show the collection.  I just found this photo though and I think it actually works.

I love the work of artist and sculptor Richard Serra.  I wish I owned an etching myself.

A significant work of art...a little home decor...and a mercury glass vase filled with Dianthus Green trick...melds together quite well for me!

THIS OR THAT: HELP ME DECIDE - WHICH COCOCOZY LIGHT PILLOW PHOTO DO YOU PREFER?!

two COCOCOZY Light pillows stacked on top of each other
Option 1 (above)

So we are trying to figure out which of these images to use for marketing materials for the new COCOCOZY collection of pillows and textiles called COCOCOZY Light.

Oh and I guess I should say...here is a glimpse at the black and white portion of the COCOCOZY Light.  We have other colors too.

Right now CM who runs all things operations at COCOCOZY is in Atlanta too showing this new line to buyers at market.  We are located in Christian Mosso Associates Showroom in Building 1 on the 9th floor of the America's Mart in Atlanta.

Unfortunately we didn't have this print done in time for the show.

Well...we're actually prepping all of this new...to launch at the New York International Gift Fair at the end of the month.  We are unveiling some exciting partnerships in just over two weeks and I'll start telling you about them on Monday!

In the meantime, help...which of these images do you like best for our hand out postcards?

Also, I am doing a focus group of sorts...please weigh in on the new designs...good, bad, like, dislike, I would like to hear it all.  Might make a difference as to what I show at market in NYC.  You get to help me decide.

MY NEW NAVY LOUIS CHAIR - COCOCOZY OFFICE DECORATING!

COCOCOZY HQ office space with a vintage brass Stiffel lamp and white orchid sitting on a White Laquer Fertwork Parsons Desk, navy Louis chair with COCOCOZY Logo linen on the front and COCOCOZY Fence in navy on the back

Here's a new addition to COCOCOZY Headquarters (HQ) in Beverly Hills!  A side chair with an oval back upholstered with my own fabric from the COCOCOZY fabric collection.  A little navy chair.  At first I wasn't sure I liked it but now I'm loving it!

My little tiny tiny office is starting to come together!

I went with a dark blue matte finish for the chair and chose navy COCOCOZY Logo linen on the front and COCOCOZY Fence in navy on the back.  The dull matte finish is a nice contrast to the glossy white desk I think and my vintage brass Stiffel lamp.

The Louis Side Chairs is from Ballard.  Ballard's p.r. people asked me to customize my own chair earlier this fall.  So I did. I chose the fabric from our collection and the color, CM who runs operations at COCOCOZY sent the fabric to them and just yesterday Jenn West (aka JW) who assists at COCOCOZY HQ took these photos (great photos JW!) with the huge NSR camera I bought last year that I never use.  Well it got put to good use yesterday. &nbsp

What do you think of our little office addition?  Like or dislike?

Happy Thursday!

P.S.  Am blogging this morning from my sister DS's warm comfy house after my unplanned move out of my cold water damaged house yesterday.  Feel very lucky to have a cute sweet nice older sister (she is 10 months older than me) who told me as I moved several huge suitcases into her house, "this is your home".  Mr. Boo, my dog, is also here.  He's welcomed too but if he chews anything up he will have literally worn out his welcome.  Watch it Mr. Boo. (see yesterday's post if you don't know what happened)

P.P.S.  My mom has been so fantastic through this whole thing.  She knows I've been stressed but she continues to give good advice about solving the problem.

P.P.P.S.  I mentioned silver linings yesterday.  In the middle of the move, one of my moving guys said to me..."Lady, how old are you?".  I asked, "How old do you think."  He said, "Oh maybe 19, 20 or 21".  This nice moving guy made my day!  I'd like to point out that he said this at the beginning of the 7 hour moving odyssey...and while I was tapping my feet and looking at my watch the whole time and I even started loading boxes and furniture, this moving guy's age comments worked.  Somehow, I was not at all annoyed that a 4 hour move turned into a 7 hour ordeal.  Flattery will get you everywhere!

P.P.P.P.S.  Thank you for all of your nice emails about my house...you are so sweet.  I will be more than fine.  As I said, this is merely an inconvenience...a hiccup in life...a very challenging hiccup...but a hiccup.  Seeing the news of all of the families mourning in Newtown has helped me keep great perspective over the last few days.  Again, my thoughts, condolences and deepest sympathies go out to them.

P.P.P.P.P.S.  Must go buy storage today for sis DS's house...I brought so much stuff over...if I don't organize it, I will wear out my welcome I'm sure!!!

P.P.P.P.P.P.S.  TE is leaving today for a week. He is going to Europe to see his family. In the middle of all my house craziness chaos, last night we managed to exchange Christmas presents.  He is so sweet.  He got me something for the vacation we're taking next week. Was nice taking a breather from construction and moving to enjoy the holiday.  We're going to Beaver Creek for New Years.  We'll stay with best of friend FF and her family in their huge home and then we'll go to a resort for 3 days.  Can't wait.

P.P.P.P.P.P.P.S. UPDATE ON COCOCOZY LUCITE TRAYS - Not too late to order these trays before the holiday or as a Christmas gift, a present for yourself or housewarming gift. We have them back in stock and can overnight ship to you so they make it in time!

THIS OR THAT: HOLIDAY CHEER!

Four COCOCOZY holiday cards two facing forwards and two facing backwards arranged in a rectangle
COCOCOZY 2012 Holiday Card! (above)

So our 2012 holiday cards came in yesterday for COCOCOZY. They are being sent out today.

We're going for a clean modern preppy holiday card look this year. All of our printed materials are designed by super duper fantastic freelance graphic designer EF. She does everything for us including the catalog, our postcards, stationery, order forms, letterhead...everything. EF is so talented and she is really cute too. I feel so lucky to have been working with her on the COCOCOZY graphic look for the last 2 years. She is awesome.

So our 2012 holiday card...Bold stripes on the back of the card and a simple white border on the front. The color scheme is a winter light blue, silver and white. A serif font and tah dah.

Last year we used the same wording "Joy" but the card looked a little different. Not that things can change now but wondering which COCOCOZY Holiday card you like best in today's THIS OR THAT!  The new 2012 card or the old 2011 card?

New - 2012 holiday card. (above)

COCOCOZY holiday card 2011
Old - 2011 holiday card (above)

two COCOCOZY holiday cards. One facing forwards the other facing backwards

So which of these two cards do you like better... the old or the new version.  It is too late to change the cards now but your opinion will definitely help us in deciding what we do for 2013. We'll certainly change the wording next year from "joy" to something else...I almost went with "believe" this year, but everyone except EF seemed to not like that! :-)

Want to hear your thoughts!

Happy Tuesday!

P.S.  Deciding on a holiday card can be tough.  Spent about two days on email with best of friend AM as she designed her family holiday card with pictures of her kids.  AM sent several versions to me and her hubby JE to approve.  Her cards turned out so cute...but there was one version where she had two side by side close up shots of her kids on the back of the card; her husband's comment on that version was "These look like mugshots".  Needless to say, AM quickly changed out those photos! LOL!

WEEKEND PHOTO!

Close up of a pumpkin

Last night, I got this as a gift.  I can honestly say...I have never in my life received a pumpkin as a gift.  I was/am charmed. I absolutely love it.

A wonderful reminder that it is fall and that Halloween is so near. I keep staring at my new pumpkin.

Now, that the pumpkin is mine...what do I do with it?  On COCOCOZY Instagram, one person suggested I use thumbtacks to decorate it!  Her thumbtack pumpkin looks awesome.

Hope you are having a nice autumn weekend.

Happy Sunday!
