STRIPES & CHEVRON TOGETHER? - FEARLESS DECOR PART 2

Last week I showed you a bright pink living room and said that was fearless.  This week I bring you a home in Morocco with a wild blue chevron pattern floor and bold stripe walls!  Wow!

Could you do it?

Would you go fearless or play it safe?

So regarding the rooms above...I would probably do the floor but not the stripe walls.  I love the idea of a beautiful graphic pattern tile on the floor.

TASTE TEST CELEBRITY CHEF'S KITCHEN & BATH

This is celebrity chef Bobby Flay's kitchen and bath in his Hamptons home.  Two rooms...two very different styles.

Small bits of his summer home are featured on Elle Decor's website.  I chose two rooms with a bit of bold design to show you.

I was immediately attracted to the cement Moroccan tiles on the master bath floor.  Daring, whimsical and pretty I think.

Then there is the turquoise kitchen with a gray slate backsplash.  Not a room for the shy in decorating at all!  A cheerful conversation piece room for sure.

FASHION FORWARD - ISABEL MARANT INTERNATIONAL BOHEMIAN STYLE

Loving all things Isabel Marant. This season she's all about the international bohemian look with soft purples and yellows and lots of mixing of patterns...and lots of paisley.

For some reason this outdoor tiled daybed nook although it is entirely Moroccan in feel has that same pattern on pattern play going on. I like it!

P.P.S. So excited...am doing a public appearance next week and just got an email that someone is going to help me style my wardrobe for the event!  Need to lose 5lbs before going to try on cute clothes. Right?  Can a person lose 5lbs in two days?  Hmmm....

THIS OR THAT: MOSAIC KITCHEN BACKSPLASH!

Which of these two kitchen looks do you like better.

The white kitchen with the blue mosaic chevron pattern backsplash?  Or the kitchen with the dark wood cabinets and the Moorish looking mosaic tile backsplash?

Which do you prefer.

OR THAT?

I like both kitchens definitely! But if I had to pick a look for my house...it is tough but I would pick the 2nd kitchen if you can believe! Normally I always lean towards the light and bright so picking #2 is truly a departure!

TILE FILE: A HOUSE FULL OF TILES!

Love these tiles on the floor of this home is in Greece.  Cement tiles I think.  In black, red and gray.  They look Moroccan to me.  So lovely.  Who said tile makes a room cold?  I didn't.  I like this!

I love the way the same tiles are used in both indoor and outdoor spaces.  Nice.  Very nice.

P.P.S.  I was at Wholefoods last night and an older man walked up to me.  He was holding a jug of apple juice.  He said to me..."What is in this apple juice...is it just apples...I cannot tell".  I read the front and it said "Organic apple juice".  On the back, listing the ingredients it only said: "Ingredients: Apple Juice".  I said, "I guess this apple juice is made out of apple juice?"  The older man said, "This drives me crazy every time.  How can a jug of apple juice say the ingredients are "apple juice""...I shrugged my shoulders.  Baffling.  He was right.  It is like saying the ingredient in a frozen pizza is frozen pizza OR the ingredient in butter is butter.  While the man seemed a little loopy, he was spot on in his observation.  As I left the store, I could hear him asking someone else "What is in this apple juice...is it just apples...I cannot tell.".  LOL!

WHAT'S NEW IS OLD - A MALIBU BEACH RETREAT!

A Malibu house...with ocean views...right on the famous Broad Beach.  A new home built to look old!  Owned and built by antiques afficianado Richard Shapiro, the home is a juxtaposition between old and new... from the purposefully chipped sandstone floors, to the buffed plastered walls, to the floor to ceiling encasement windows, to the modern swooping steel balustrade, this villa on the ocean is meant to look as if it was plucked out of ancient ruins with some very modern touches!

P.S. Sis DS is traveling right now (lucky her).  She texted in this photo from Morocco this morning. DS and my mother are touring Medina today and were in Casablanca yesterday.  So cool!  This photo below is a screen...one that allows women to see out but keeps them hidden from men! So interesting!

P.P.S.  Have today off from my real job...so will be spending the day catching up on all things COCOCOZY!  Looking forward to a little time to get everything in order before I start traveling for the summer.
