TREND ALERT - WOOD KITCHEN CABINETS

This is what wood kitchen cabinets look like today.  Gone are the stained cherry, oak, mahogany carved or raised cabinet door fronts of old.  The new look for wood cabinets is a modern rustic raw wood look.

Non glossy finishes, real wood tones and colors highlighted.  The reclaimed wood look is in.  So is the modern country look with wood paneled door fronts.

You remember what those stained wood cabinets looked like in the past?  What do you think of this updated look of kitchen cabinets?

I like the first kitchen with the bead board like paneled cabinets.  Which is your favorite (if any)?

Happy Tuesday!

P.S.  Forgot to mention, had a fun night the other night at a party for Domaine Home at chic fabric showroom Harbinger here in Los Angeles.  I brought TE with me and met up with CM who runs all things operations at COCOCOZY.  Have a connection to both Harbinger and Domaine.   The COCOCOZY fabric line is carried by Harbinger and COCOCOZY is featured on the bottom of Domaine.  Ran into the fabulous interior designer Joe Lucas who owns Harbinger, Mat Sanders Editor extraordinaire of Domaine, Nicole Gibbons of So Haute and Christian May of Maison 21 blogs so many nice others (like Typhanie Peterson).  Was a fun evening.  Also got to show off the COCOCOZY fabric collection to TE as our line is carried by Harbinger! It was lots of fun.  We ended up at some party for Veranda where there were two people in leotards doing interpretive moves and acrobatics.  Very interesting indeed!

P.P.S.  Big partnership announcement for COCOCOZY tomorrow.  Stay tuned.  So excited to tell you all.

P.P.P.S.  My favorite foyer from yesterday is the first...keeping it simple! FYI!

KITCHEN WEEK: GRAY TRADITIONAL WITH A LEMON TWIST!

KITCHEN WEEK day 5 is really courtesy of Pinterest.  Pinterest is like Facebook to me.  You go on to do one thing and then you end up endlessly wandering through all kinds of photos on other peoples pages. The other day I was on Facebook leaving a comment on best of friend AM's wall wishing her a happy birthday and somehow through clicking here and there, I ended up in some random persons wedding photos!  Oy vey.

Anyhooooo...I found this kitchen while randomly browsing through Pinterest.  Somehow it led me to Willow Decor blog and to these fabulous photos taken by photographer James Salomon of a kitchen designed by Bronwyn Huffard of Huffard House Interiors.

Love this traditional kitchen in Maine....with it's backsplash featuring a Swiss flag like white and gray cross painted backsplash under the stainless hood and above the range.   Love the industrial pendant lights over the kitchen island, the white marble counters, the large windows flanking the stove and most of all, the lemon yellow pocket door leading to the pantry!  Very nice.

A classic kitchen with a twist!

Happy Friday!

P.S. Have today off from regular job...am heading to my tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills to meet the closet installers and the painters. Have chosen a great gray/blue color for my little den. Some Benjamin Moore color...but I've forgotten what it is called already! Yikes.

KITCHEN WEEK: AN INVISIBLE KITCHEN!

poland loft apartment black white open floor plan decor design architecture

KITCHEN WEEK day 4 here on COCOCOZY!  Hope you have enjoyed it so far.  I've had a blast hunting for lots of cool cooking spaces - like the one featured here today.

I'm calling it an invisible kitchen...but it is just a really cool super modern open kitchen in white and black in an apartment in Poland.  All white, black counter, long sleek cabinet doors without handles with a matching island dividing the living space and the kitchen.

Maybe I should call this a camouflaged kitchen instead...it blends right into its environment.  I like.  Also love the super wide plank light colored wood floors...fantastic!

Can't quite figure out where the oven and refrigerator are in this space...but they must be somewhere???  I hope!

Oh and check out the white tube like vent over the cook top. Wow!

What do you think?

Happy Thursday!

Hello yellow - a bright cheerful small kitchen with stainless steel counters and backsplash. (above)
KITCHEN WEEK day 3 here on COCOCOZY!  Today I bring you a few very bright colorful kitchens.   I am afraid of too much color as you probably can tell by the images on the blog...but of course, just the right dose of color can really make a huge design statement.

I actually love all of these colorful kitchens pictured here...but which would I actually dare to live with?  Hmmm...thinking....

Do you have a color filled kitchen in your home?  If not, would you consider any of these bright options if you could?  Please do weigh in...

I think I would go for the light blue modern kitchen with the marble slab backsplash if I had to chose one.

Do tell.

Happy Wednesday!

P.S.  Go to COCOCOZY Pinterest to see a very very bright orange kitchen.  Orange! Would love to know whether you could live with that color on a day to day basis.  Also, you can see other views of these kitchens there too!  Follow along on Pinterest!

KITCHEN WEEK - GEOMETRIC BACKSPLASH!

small white kitchen light blue wallpaper geometric pattern stainless hood integrated cooktop cook bright

This week is KITCHEN WEEK on COCOCOZY!  During this week, I'll bring you kitchens I like and some design ideas that you can easily incorporate into your kitchen whether you live in a grand mansion or a cute small city apartment and for all of the houses and homes in between.

First off, on day 1 of KITCHEN WEEK, here is a fab feature wall in this adorable modern small kitchen.  Can't really tell if this is a mosaic tile or wallpaper.  Can you?

Either way, I like the light blue graphic diamond pattern used as a backsplash of sorts behind the sleek white flat front cabinets.  Adds an element of design and visual interest to an otherwise neutral space.

Anyone know where this fab wallpaper or tile comes from?

Pulled some wallpaper patterns that might work below.

Cole & Son - Labyrinth Wallpaper (Light blue geometric patterned wallpaper)(above)

Graham & Brown - Juan Wallpaper - $85 per roll (Greek key like geometric patterned light blue wallpaper)(above)

What do you think?  Like or dislike?

I think if you have bare walls in your kitchen...using wallpaper might be the easiest way to get this look.  If you are doing a kitchen remodel, why not use a fabulous mosaic tile?  I would!

Happy Monday!

P.S.  We took the dogs on a little walk yesterday in Manhattan Beach...along the boardwalk.  We also went to breakfast at a cute restaurant (diner) called Martha's.  I'm not a Manhattan Beach type of girl at all (Laguna is more to my liking!), but it was a gorgeous day and everyone was in a good mood and smiling...who can complain!  I know lots of you are buried in snow.  I wish you much sun and warmth!!

P.P.S.  Have a another shoot tonight on set on the Universal lot for my real job.  Should be fun.  Only part that isn't too fun is that shoot starts at 8pm!  Wooohoooo.

P.P.P.S.  Making some big decisions this week...will have you weigh in...has to do with the COCOCOZY textiles collection!  Exciting but not sure!!!

P.P.P.P.S.  How did you spend your weekend?  Have a great week too!

THIS OR THAT: STAINLESS STEEL KITCHEN CABINETS!

kitchen stainless steel cabinets with granite counter top
Kitchen 1

Stainless steel kitchen aren't for everyone...but if you are looking for a sleek modern glistening place to do your cooking, then stainless could be just the answer.

In my imaginary 6th home (an apartment in some fabulous city somewhere) I might try a completely stainless look...I might. I have other ideas of the kitchens in imaginary homes 1-5. I may though throw caution to the wind and do this all metallic look in house number 6. In my real home, I have white glass front cabinets. Note to self: need to get started on imaginary homes so that I can get to number 6 and try a stainless look.

Let's take a look at a few stainless kitchens in today's THIS OR THAT...which one do you prefer?

Kitchen 5 - A super small kitchen with stainless steel bottom cabinets and floating shelves. (above)
Would you ever want a stainless steel kitchen in your home?  Why or why not?

Which of these metal kitchens do you like the best?  I think I'm liking Kitchen 1 and Kitchen 2 the best.  I like the reeded glass in the upper cabinets of Kitchen 1.  For some reason, Kitchen 2 doesn't seem to overwhelmingly metallic so I like that one too.

Please vote in the comments section below.  I would love to hear which of these modern metal kitchens you like best.

Happy Monday!

THIS OR THAT: TWO SMALL KITCHENS MAKE BIG DESIGN STATEMENTS!

kitchen with dark wood cabinets, island with marble counter top, wood floors, pendant lights and a white black splash with black diamonds on it.

Two well designed small kitchens from one interior designer. Here I bring you two kitchens from talented Australian designer Greg Natale. Both kitchens are making bold design statements in relatively small footprints.

Would like to know which of these kitchens you prefer in today's THIS OR THAT!

***

KITCHEN 1 (below) - A moody open kitchen with dark cabinets with diamond shaped molding details, light rustic looking floors, a very bold trellis pattern black and white backsplash and glossy black counters.

KITCHEN 2 (below) - A tiny galley kitchen with avocado green cabinets. This kitchen features a marble slab backsplash and marble checkered tile floors.

So which of these do you prefer - Kitchen 1 or Kitchen 2?  If you were going be daring in your own kitchen design and you had to pick one of these two, which of these kitchens would you chose? Is there one you like more? Do tell...would love to hear what you have to say on this one.  I am on the fence.  I would most likely go with a white kitchen but can certainly appreciate the cool eclectic design in these.  Weigh in please!

Happy Friday!

P.S. Had a great talk with colleague and friend Kimberly yesterday. She is a pro in "the business" and she gave me some great advice. She also turned me onto a cool company that makes bracelets primarily for men but they are great for girls too! Follow along on COCOCOZY Pinterest to see the latest that I'm loving from this company and more. Thank you Kimberly!

P.P.S. Also on COCOCOZY Pinterest, I pinned a gorgeous wedding from my archives last night. A friend of mine had planned the wedding years ago...it is a rustic chic event that took place in the hills of Los Angeles...complete with bales of hay as seating!
