SMART DESIGN: PLAID KITCHEN!

small modern eat in kitchen with plaid walls, louis ghost chairs, round wooden table, stools and a chalkboard

Here's a cute idea. A small kitchen with plaid walls! Hmmmm...would have never thought of it but it works here. A cute small eat in kitchen in a Swedish apartment with a white subway tile backsplash, modern stainless hood, white cabinets and plaid wallpaper on all of the other walls. The plaid works here. Not too overwhelming. Just right. Adds a bit of whimsy and visual interest to what could end up being just a regular small space.

Amazing too that they were able to fit a little round table with some clear Louis Ghost chairs into the design mix.  I like.

Smart design I think. I've added a few wallpaper patterns below that could also look good in this type of space.

Do you like this idea of plaid on the walls in a kitchen?  Is a SMART DESIGN or not so smart all?  Is this something you would consider for your home?  Why or why not?  Please weigh in below.  I LOVE reading your comments.

Happy Tuesday!

P.S. Just got an update today about a project we've been trying to move along with a major brand.  Will keep fingers crossed that it works out and that I can tell you about it soon.

P.P.S.  Also, just heard from another big company who might want to use COCOCOZY throws for their corporate Christmas gifts.  Fingers crossed that it works out!  Will of course blab the details should it come to fruition.

P.P.P.S.  Still no resolution on my floor issue (you know the wood floors that are damaged due to a pipe exploding)...can't seem to get the floor guy to come out and give me an estimate.  Arrrggghhhhhh....!

P.P.P.P.S. Thanks to all of you for your pictures of your pumpkins and for the great ideas you emailed me.  My neighbor has tricked out her house for Halloween already...I'm going to have to try to keep up by carving my one and only pumpkin!

P.P.P.P.P.S. Had a nice dinner last night with JLF.  So good to catch up after so long.

THIS OR THAT: WHICH PREPPY BED DO YOU PREFER?!

Bedroom with ticking stripe upholstered striped sleigh bed, a matching striped bench, white built in shelves and a wood floor

Two chic rooms for the modern prep in today's THIS OR THAT!

I like this bedroom above. Ahhh...a retreat indeed. Soothing, calming, not a lot of visual clutter. Then there is the adorable upholstered bed covered in ticking stripe fabric.  Subtly preppy.  Reminds me of Nantucket.

Then there is the room below...another preppy bed...this time plaid upholstered.  This is more of Southern preppy room in my view. (lots of plaid from me this week I know...!)

Which preppy upholstered bed do you like better...the ticking stripe above or the plaid slip covered bed below?

Have you decided?  Which room is your fave? I'm leaning towards the ticking stripe...I think...

Happy Thursday!

FASHION FORWARD: FALL PLAID FAD!

I'm totally into plaid this fall.  Today I'm sporting some plaid Brooks Brothers trousers and black suede Manolos.  I love plaid when done right...and it seems plaid is on trend this fall in fashion and for the home!

Happy Tuesday!

PIPING AND PLAID!

When in NY a few weeks ago, my very fashionable friend Amie Robinson mentioned that she had gone to the showroom of a cool new designer - she was raving about this designer's clothes and showroom. Amie has great fashion instincts so when I got home, I immediately popped onto my computer and had to look up clothing designer Lauren Moffatt. Amie was of course right...Lauren's fall collection is indeed awesome.

In particular, I love Lauren's outerwear which includes a cool plaid bomber jacket and 2 great navy capes with colorful trim. These coats inspired today's post...piping and plaid in fashion and in home decor and furnishings too!

Had a small group over my house this weekend...even though it was just wine and cheese, I had to have the plaid plates for my table. I bought 12! They are a good price too and great for outdoor or indoor entertaining.

Thanks Amie for turning me onto Lauren...I think I must have the bomber jacket for fall!

Readers, anything here strike your fancy? Or any other trend you like for fall in home decor or fashion?

Hope you have a great Monday!
