BEFORE AND AFTER: AWASH IN A "WARM MODERN" STYLE - RINARISA CORONEL-DEFRONZE ON DESIGNING A DASHING BATH!

I decided Rinarisa Coronel-DeFronze and her interiors should have at least another day on Nbaynadamas. Rinarisa's self-taught interior design finesse and her impeccably redone New York City apartment definitely needed to be spread out over two posts in order to do it all justice.
To me, this bathroom renovation stood out on its own - a show piece of sorts. As many of you saw in a post from yesterday, her overall apartment renovation is stunning. Now, in her bath, once again, Rinarisa and her husband have created a chic sanctuary...a place that just by looking at it gives you a sense of luxurios relaxation and peace.

I asked Rinarisa five questions about her fantastic bathroom remodel...here's what she said:
Coco: What was your design inspiration for the bathroom?
Rinarisa: I know it sounds passé but we definitely wanted a spa like feel for our bathroom.

Coco: Please describe just a few of the key/signature materials used in your bathroom remodel and why you chose them?
Rinarisa: I have to give the majority of the credit to my husband Ian DeFronze on this remodel. We decided on a 4”x16” white ceramic Lingotto tile from Italy for the majority of the walls. We just loved the modern look of the tiles, especially when they are “stacked”. Of course we also added the white carrera marble as the sink top. For the dividing wall between the shower and the rest of the bathroom I wanted something to “pop” so we used a robin egg blue ceramic mosaic tile from floor to ceiling. It really looks beautiful when you are outside the bathroom looking in. We also hung this great pendant lighting fixture we found from IKEA in the middle of the bathroom – I really liked the design of it but most important it was not paper or cloth like the other pendants so it would not get damaged from the steam. Lastly we hung a few pieces of original art in the bathroom which were made by a Filipino artist we met while honeymooning in the Philippines. The Stone floor in the shower was actually leftover tile from a bathroom renovation my parents did in their home – we definitely lucked out there!

Coco: What was one of the biggest challenges for you with this room?
Rinarisa: Trying to figure out a way to fit a washer/dryer in the corner!

Coco: What is your favorite part of this bathroom?
Rinarisa: The sink area – I love the way the beveled mirror we purchased from Williams Sonoma looks against the pair of square white sinks. My husband also made sure we had the right lighting in the right places.

Coco: Any tips you might have for someone who is taking on a bath remodel?
Rinarisa: Definitely think how you want to use the space first before even removing a nail! – make a list of priorities. For example, do you both want the ability to brush your teeth at the same time, do you want space to include your hamper and dry cleaning, is a bath tub really important to you?

Rinarisa kindly says if you have any questions about sourcing or the design, please email her at rinarisa@aol.com.
Again, thank you to Rinarisa and Ian for sharing your amazing bath renovation photos....again, your whole remodel has been truly inspiring. Can't wait until Rinarisa and Ian take on their next project!
