SEE THIS HOUSE: THE FOREST FOR THE TREES - A "RUSTIC" LAKE TAHOE HOME IS REALLY EASY VACATION LIVING!

Just got back from an amazing 4th of July weekend in Lake Tahoe, California. I rented a house with four friends from San Francisco and Los Angeles. This mountain home, located in Tahoe's Ward Canyon, is 4100 square feet and features 6 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. Nestled in the middle of a forest about 2 miles from Lake Tahoe itself, this house was a perfect country retreat for me and my city friends!

We spent the better time of our weekend sunning in the amazing yard...surrounded by pine trees and the sounds and smells of nature. Since our group was far from the "roughing it" types, Sherwood Forest's amenities were perfect.

The beauty of our weekend rental was that we could pretend to be "outdoorsy" and "earthy" while really not being either of those things at all. We pondered the thought of long hikes, river rafting, fishing, water skiing, mountain biking and doing all of the things that Tahoe had to offer...we didn't...but maybe someone might think we did just by virtue of our location. All show and no substance...hmmm...seems to be my mantra as of late!!!

While not my interior design style, thought this home's decor was a great example of a rustic mountain vacation hideaway...perfect for winter ski vacations and summer lake trips.

I think I'll go back to Tahoe...next time in the winter so I can pretend to take on the ski slopes while really just enjoying easy living at Sherwood Forest. Shhhhh....don't tell anyone though...wouldn't want them to know my secret!!!
