A METAL CHANDELIER ENLIGHTENS IN A VERY NATURAL WAY - BRINGING ORDER TO THE DAY!

More from my trip to New York last week.

So, I arrived in NY early Friday morning (was going to the Hamptons with AM and her hubby JE and their 9 month old baby JE Jr.). I left Los Angeles with high hopes of a very productive day in the city before being whisked off to the beach...so many plans...an ambitious schedule that I was determined to meet.

Here is what the PLAN/PROPOSED SCHEDULE was for my day in NYC (of course the ultimate goal being a wonderful day spent leisurely gliding through the city like a proper "lady who lunches"):

COCO's NEW YORK FRIDAY- THE PRE-PLANNED SCHEDULE...1. Arrive at AM/JE's new apartment; 2. Hang out with JE Jr. a bit--oogle at the cute baby for 45 minutes to an hour (because AM/JE are both at work, also awkwardly greet nanny whose name I can not remember even though AM has told me a million times); 3. Get dressed for a day on the streets of NY (wear something really cute...just in case I run into someone I know or a cute single guy); 4. Spend the morning in Soho hunting for cool furniture finds for Nbaynadamas; 5. Take cab uptown and stop at Bergdorf's just to see what's doing; 6. have a wonderful lunch at my favorite restaurant Le Bilboquet on 63rd and Madison...see if friend AR (aka A to the double R O) could join; 7. Get a manicure and pedicure; 8. Back to Soho for a little more shopping and wandering; 9. Pick up baby gift for JE Jr.; 10. Pick up some champagne or house warming gift for AM & JE; 11. Back to the apartment for a leisurely shower and outfit selection; 12. Dinner at Delicatessen (new hip Soho restaurant on Prince Street); 13. Sit in SUV as AM's hubby drives us out to the Hamptons... Wonderful right????



Here's what ACTUALLY HAPPENED that day:

COCO'S DISORGANIZED FRIDAY IN NEW YORK - THE ACTUAL SCHEDULE...1. Arrive at AM/JE's new apartment; 2. Hang out with JE Jr. for about half hour to 45 minutes - baby is absolutely adorable and oogle worthy (still had awkward Nanny introduction and still do not know her name); 3. Pass out for 4 hours (until about noon) because of the Xanax I took on the plane to relieve my flying anxiety; 4. Wake up to let a bunch of men into the apartment who say they are fixing the air conditioning; 5. Notice that nanny and the baby are gone; 6. Fall back asleep for two hours (men leave some time within that time frame); 7. Wake up in a groggy panic at about 3:00pm; 8. Put on mish mosh outfit of J Brand jeans, flip flops, a Juicy Couture hoodie and a Melissa Masse Luna top (note it is 85 degrees outside and I am wearing layers); 9. dash out of the apartment building but am so confused by this new location that I walk in circles for about 12 minutes until I get my bearings (am sweating at this point); 10. Get tired after walking a block because I don't walk anywhere in Los Angeles; 11. Go to Bloomingdales to buy my favorite NARS blush only to find it has been discontinued for 2 years (so now to pose the most disturbing question of the day...is the blush stick I have been using recently and have in purse actually two years old? Yikes...ooops...friend JLF (makeup/product guru) would be absolutely horrified by this realization); 12. Make it to Greene Street and find a great store (hence this post); 13. Avoid a thunderstorm but not really; 14. Realize it is about 5:45pm and I don't know where my phone/Blackberry has gone... argghhhhh Bloomingdales!; 15. Rush back to Bloomingdales...lady has my phone at the NARS make up counter; 16. Feeling faint...have not eaten since red-eye airplane snack of cheese and fruit; 17. AM calls and demands to know where I am...she is at home with the baby but is leaving to buy a gift for JE and we have dinner reservations at 7p and she warns I better hurry and better not be late; 18. Rush back to apartment and meet AM (look down at toes and realize still need pedicure - not a pretty sight at this point). 19. Go with AM to BOSE to buy "man gift" for JE (computer speakers) and then end up at Vivienne Tam buying dresses (so delirious and confused that I buy a full length ball gown "just in case"); 20. AM and baby leave me at Vivienne Tam to make my purchases; 21. Rush back to AM's house to change for dinner...stop to have chipped polish painted over at small mani/pedi place...costs me $6 dollars for two nails; 22. Not having showered, throw on a dress and literally run up the street to dinner at Delicatessen. Not so wonderful...right?




Let's go back to #12 of what ACTUALLY HAPPENED. When I was on Greene Street in Soho, I did happen upon a huge furniture showroom - a store called Campaniello Soho. Lots of modern furniture...some very interesting pieces...but the most stunning were these metal coral chandeliers featured in this post.

The Coral Terra metal chandeliers are from Lumen Center Italia. The Lumen website refers to these chandeliers as "contemporary suspension lamps". Designed by VillaTosca Design in 2006, these metal hanging lamps come in several finishes/colors including: epoxy-lacquered glossy black or glossy white, chartreuse green or red. The light shades/diffusers are made of pyrex glass and are etched with a coral design too.

The chandeliers come in a variety sizes/prices.

Although the shopkeeper seemed a little confused on price when I called to confirm, I managed to eek some prices out of him (this shopkeeper on the phone meekly said it was his third day on the job in order to explain a bit of confusion over price). Here is what I have surmised about pricing for chandeliers pictured in this post:

-White Super Coral (large 8 light)- $2405 (pictured here)
-Black Coral (medium 8 light) - $1720 (pictued here)
-Chartreuse (Green) Coral (medium 8 light) - $1720 (pictured here)
-Red Super Coral (large two tiered 16 light) - $4200 (not pictured)



Thought these chandeliers were modern, fun, colorful, whimsical and tasteful all at the same time. In a dining room, a grand entry way, a simple bedroom, or as the centerpiece of a living room, these coral shaped chandeliers would make a wonderful statement and are a great conversation piece for any home.

So, I guess the conclusion is about my crazy New York Friday... in the middle of a disorderly day filled with unnatural missteps and mishaps...a chandelier provided some natural enlightenment and for a moment, the chaos of the day made absolute sense!
