Modern home exterior overlooking the marina in Marina del Rey, California (above)
This week I have rediscovered the beach here in the Los Angeles area...really I have rediscovered beach living. For some reason, as the summer is closing out, every person I know who lives near the beach (in Venice, Santa Monica, Marina del Rey, Malibu etc.) has decided to throw a party. For the last three days (or should I say evenings and nights), I've been at the beach. It has been a great reunion - me and the beach reunited!
Today, was at a party right on the beach in Marina del Rey. A friend who normally lives in Hollywood is renting a cute studio apartment for the summer just a half a block from the beach. He invited about 30 of his friends to spend the day on the beach enjoying the surf and sand. It was quite beautiful (in spite of the sand being in everything...including our drinks!).
After witnessing a dramatic real water rescue by the lifeguard (someone in our group ran and alerted the guard that a man was in need of help and another from our group actually swam out and helped the man until the lifeguards came), chatting with a nice guy who was a self proclaimed gypsy (although I might have proclaimed him a gypsy), taking in the beautiful ocean view and the stunning sunset, we walked back to our car...only to happen on some wonderful architecture on the water's edge.

It was on the walk back to the car that I saw this house pictured in this post. This home is striking example of modern architecture...so striking, I stopped to take photos...much to AZ's embarrassment.
The block upright rectangle shape of the home's structure is mirrored in all of the exterior design elements. The house exterior color is bright white (really green and white make up the colors seen on this home and surrounding this home- the house itself is all white...for accent coloring, the simple plants and ground covering provide the green accents). Rectangular grass lined cement pavers cover the ground in the front of the home and the driveway. Rectangle shaped panes make up the frosted glass and aluminum (metal) frame garage doors. The home's exterior wall is covered in rectangle panels which mimic the rectangle patterns from the driveway and garage.
The huge windows, frosted glass front door and garage doors make the home glow in the early evening light.
Rectangle shaped cement paving stones are surrounded by grass and make for a stunning pattern on the driveway (above).
The pavers on the driveway and the panes on the garage doors compliment each other with the same pattern.
If this is beach living...I'll take it!
