SEE THIS HOUSE: BLOCKING OUT A MODERN, CHIC AND COLORFUL HOLLYWOOD HILLS HOME!

Love this ultra modern bright white, blue and green color blocked space. This Hollywood Hills home was designed by Vanessa de Vargas, Venice Beach, California interior designer, owner of Turquoise interior design. The use of bright blue and green blocks of color on white walls is an ingenious way of turning every day home furnishings and accessories into pieces of art. In this tres L.A. home, squares and rectangles of blue and green, are used to frame, accentuate, highlight and hide some of the home's more utilitarian pieces...giving function some very stylistic form.


A simple sleek white dining room with a frosted glass and metal dining table and a buffet made of the same materials gets a punch of color with blue and green blocks painted on the white walls. A blue rectangular block hides and highlights open shelves that hold a decorative array of alcohol for the home's bar, while a green rectangular block highlights a small sunburst wall decor mirror.

Two glowing silver and frosted glass table lamps flank the sides of the simple white stone mantel. A blue square block of color artfully frames a simple round decorative mirror to create a clever design element in the room.


Honey colored wood floors contrast against the simple white leather living room armchairs and sofa. A frosted glass and brushed metal coffee table is both functional and elegant. French doors bring the lush green plants from patio space inside the house...the verdent color from outside is mirrored inside with green throw pillows and a large green color block on the wall which is meant to highlight and camouflage the living room's flat panel television.





An affordable wall design statement comes in the form of dozens of wall decals and stickers in this stairwell. This grouping of picture frame stickers from Ikea is used here to creatively line the walls of the home's curved staircase.

Designer Vanessa De Vargas beautifully managed to keep the space simple, clean and fresh but also full of colorful detail.
