This cheery newly remodeled kitchen features pale mushroom and glass cabinets, black CaesarStone quartz countertops, a bar area, stainless appliances and a grey and white plaid floor! (above)
Another design miracle from the talented architectural team of Tom Newman and Debbie Wolen of Newman & Wolen Design, LLC here in Los Angeles (actually their offices are in Culver City). This time architects Tom and Debbie meticulously transformed an outdated pink kitchen into a fresh modern space with a plaid tile floor!
I LOVE THIS KITCHEN! Sorry for the caps and exclamation point...but need to express how strongly I feel about this kitchen. It is the perfect blend of modern convenience, classic and traditional inspiration, fresh color and the appropriate level of whimsy.
After a major remodel, the new kitchen now features high gloss pale mushroom colored cabinets, a glossy black Absolute Noir CaesarStone quartz stone countertop, traditional off-white subway tile backsplash laid in a brick pattern, glass upper cabinets and high end stainless steel appliances. Everything and anything anyone could want in a kitchen.
All that being said, the piece de resistance of this kitchen, however, is most definitely the floor - a stone tile floor laid on the diagonal in a windmill like pattern with different colors of tile (Fritz Tile ‘Green Tile’, 12”x12” thin “flexible terrazzo” in ‘winter white’, ‘silver gray’, and ‘staley black’, made of 70% recycled material) to give the effect of a plaid floor! FANTASTIC.
As for the before and after of this kitchen, clearly these architects made magic when they renovated the outdated dingy pink cabinetry, countertops and floor plan in order to freshen this kitchen up...a truly delightful space.

After - Kitchen Sink Area
After the transformation, this kitchen boasts two stainless steel undermount sinks - one double sink and one prep sink, both with easy access to clear glass upper cabinets and with wonderful views through refurbished windows. (above)
Before - Kitchen Stove/Range
Pink cabinets, pink tile countertop, pink backsplash, a copper stovetop and hood, black ovens and floral wallpaper were the mishmosh order of the day in the old kitchen. (above)
After - Kitchen Stove/Range
Sleek black quartz stone counter tops, pale mushroom cabinets with a delicate molding detail, off-white "crackle" subway tile backsplash, a stunning stainless gourmet range/oven combo, an enclosed hood/vent that matches cabinetry, new built-in shelving for cook books, cabinets that are flush to the ceiling and brighten wall color make this once dreary pink kitchen now cheery and airy. The plaid tile floor is carried into the breakfast nook or casual dining area which is cleverly furnished with a white picnic style table and benches. The benches and table are from Olde Good Things in downtown LA and are from Argentina.(above)
