Master bedroom at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills, CA (above)
Yes. It has been more than a week since the end of Veranda magazine's interior design showcase house at the historic Greystone Estate here in Beverly Hills...and yes...I am still blogging about my tour of the mansion two Saturdays ago. I guess when you tour a 46,000 square foot home and take pictures throughout...there would be a lot to blog about. Am, at this point, about a third of the way through my posts on this house.
Please yell out, scream, holler, comment when you've had enough of Greystone and I'll stop. Until then...here goes.
This is the master bedroom at Greystone as meticulously realized by Los Angeles based interior designer Windsor Smith. Taking advantage of the never-ending windows in the room that let in lightness and brightness, this interior summons the light and then enhances it with cool and easy neutral colors, lots of texture, surprising visual detail and shimmering but subtle patterns.
The patchwork cowhide rug was really cool - perhaps my favorite decor element in the room. Also loved the extra long off-white (maybe beige) sofa that rested under the bay window...providing a perfect place for reading, gabbing on the phone, or napping. Overall, the room appealed to the multiple decor personalities in me...speaking to the one side of me that loves beautiful feminine modern touches, honoring the other side of me that also respects the powerful influence of traditional decor and taking risks with the part of me that loves eclectic inspirations from around the world.
A beautiful room in my view.
Side table and hexagonal stool are made of a dark wood with intricate bone and mother of pearl inlay. (above)
Silky off-white (maybe cream) bedding is embellished with a metallic gold large brocade pattern. (above)
At the Greystone Mansion, the master bedroom is in a corner of the house. The room is replete with leaded glass paned windows which allow in ample light and a view of the verdant tree tops. The bed is enveloped by a large canopy and drapes. White and cream roman shades dress the windows.(above)
Very silky satin round pillows line the large long white sofa that sits under the main bedroom window. (above)
The Greystone Mansion's master bedroom sitting area includes a white lacquer coffee table and two zebra print upholstered ottomans. (above)
A wonderfully soft cowhide patch off white rug is made by hide rug expert Kyle Bunting. (above)
The Greystone Mansion's master bedroom now features lower wall paneling, ornate door trim, carved built-ins and lots of decorative moldings and trim that add to the architecture of the room and compliment the decor. (above)
By the way, only noticed after I got home and looked at the pictures that the mattress is actually on what looks like a platform bed with zebra print Moroccan style legs! Wow!
Really would love to know what you think about this master bedroom at the Greystone Mansion. Would you want to sleep here or would you rather not? Please click on "comments" link below and let me know!
