Sabina Danenberg Antiques - Superb Lacquered Ming Style Cabinet - $2800 (Turquoise blue lacquered cabinet, dresser or sideboard. Brass hardware. 7 drawers.)(above)
So it stopped raining here in Los Angeles today. Finally (she says spoken like a true native Angeleno).
A few days ago when I was driving home up Nichols Canyon, it was merely sprinkling outside...but it was as if a tsunami had hit L.A. In the hills, lights were out, trees were downed and there was debris on the two lane windy road. I had to laugh. This was before it really started to rain. This was when it was only drizzling outside. L.A. does not do well in gloomy rainy weather I suppose. LOL!
So in honor of the sunny bright and shiny day today...and the city's ability to make it through a day and half of rain, I thought I would do a post on some bright, shiny and glossy cabinets.
Here they are...quite spectacular aren't they? Mirrored, coated in metal, lathered in lacquer...I love all of these. Use a sideboard in a dining room, a cabinet in a hallway, a dresser in a bedroom or as a credenza (have never known why people use the word credenza...) some place else in your house...these cabinets all make style statements!!

C Bell Furnishing - Bell Haven Buffet - $3950 (Mirrored three part cabinet. Circle formation lacquered wood and mirrored panel cabinet. Center cabinet .Two attached side cabinets.) (above)
Doxa Home - Lattice and Eglomise Cabinet - $4795 (Eglomise doors behind an arts and crafts inspired lattice quatrefoil and circle pattern. The simple rectangular shape sits on square tapered legs. Comes with two internal shelves. Available in either Black Stained Oak or Bleached Oak. )(above)
For those of you who have never seen the word "eglomise" like me...just learned that this is simply a technique in which glass is painted or gilt on its backside making the front side look mirror-like or reflective. Huh? Who knew? (Question is...why go through all of the trouble of painting the glass when you could just use a mirror...??? Don't know...but I like the way this looks...hee hee!)
My favorite of these cool cabinets is the turquoise Asian inspired cabinet at the top.
Which is yours?
