The casually glam living room of a California beach house features gold and brass accents throughout - from the garden stool used as a side table, to the bases of the coffee table and the two ottomans, gold is delicately dropped into the delightful design.(above)
I like the work of Los Angeles based Kristen Hutchins whose eponymous interior design firm decorated this beach house in the Pacific Palisades.
A casual beach theme pumped up with a pop of gold here and a punch of shiny brass there. Gone are the expected beachy blues and whites...instead this beach home surprise with a Hollywood Regency type glamour of its own. When the rest of the design world is going for silver accents, I like the fact that this designer carved her own path, blazing a golden trail, with this house - using just a touch of gold.
Entry way with faux bamboo mirror and simple console table shows off gold in a subtle way...a burnished gold lamp base and a bowl with a gold not silver lining! (above)
A glass dining room table with a shiny brass base makes a perfectly gold bold statement in this very beach themed dining room. Love the white lacquer cut out dining chairs of course. (above)
A gold lamp base and faux bamboo metal chandelier add the golden bling to this lovely bedroom.(above)
The rich looking home office and study with its dark gray blue walls gets its gold from a simple table lamp stylishly set on a wooden parsons desk. (above)
Readers, what do you think of adding brass or touches of gold to decor?
Thank you Kristen for allowing me to use photos from your site!
