HILLSIDE MODERN DREAM HOUSE - PRIVATE TOUR

Photos by Coco of COCOCOZY

Multi million dollar modern Hollywood Hills view house (above)

Got the chance to take a private tour of this super sleek modern hillside home this weekend.  3900 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, bleached oak hardwood floors throughout, two stories and magnificent views of Los Angeles, the hills and little bit of the ocean.  A modern dream.

Of course I couldn't stop snapping photos.  The super white walls, bleached light wood floors high ceilings and bright light put this in the dream house territory for me.  A little modern for my taste...but if given to me, I could certainly work with it.   I would redecorate certainly - change the furniture (I would keep the Barcelona chairs, Saarinen table, and Eames chairs though) and replace the art and COCOCOZY it up a bit with some rugs and geometric pillows etc..and then call it a day.  Hmmm....food for thought....

So today I bring you several photos I shot of this multi million dollar modern home...here is a private tour of this Hollywood Hills dream house...

The foyer with the home's original wood carved front door. (above)

Living room fits a sleek sectional, Barcelona chair, an Arco floor lamp all atop an animal skin rug (above)

The dining room features large scale art, a solid wood table and classic Eames chairs (above)

Gold buffet cabinet (above)

The super all white kitchen is my dream (above)

The breakfast nook with a Saarinen tulip table sits near the home's original bay windows (above)

A mahogany deck overlooks the treetops in the Hollywood Hills (above and below)

On a clear enough day you can see beyond the tree tops and homes right to the Pacific Ocean! (above)

What do you think of this modern Hollywood Hills home?  Too modern or just right?  Could you make do?

There is a cute wood paneled den off the living room that I didn't get pictures of...very cozy.  Good place to watch t.v.  Oh I didn't take photos of the second floor bedrooms or baths at all.  The master bedroom is the size of a football field and has a beautiful tree top view to wake up to every morning.

Happy Monday!

SMALL COTTAGE KITCHEN MAKEOVER - BEFORE & AFTER

Was on HGTV Canada's site and found this cute cottage kitchen makeover by designer Sarah Richardson.  In this transformation, Richardson took a small dark outdated cottage kitchen...and turned into a bright light cheerful space.

See this cool transformation below:

BEFORE - This galley style kitchen was dingy and cramped with old cabinets, tile and counters. (below)

AFTER - A new white kitchen, with crystal pendant lights over a newly created bar pass though.  Brass accents, stainless steel appliances and a sparkling mosaic tile backsplash finish off the look! (below)

Love the white counters (TE and I had a "discussion" over white vs. black counters the other day...no debates on world issues...just countertops) and all of the brass accents.  Very nice end result!

Happy Tuesday!

KARDASHIAN KITCHENS - THIS OR THAT

1. Kourtney Kardashian kitchen(above)

My mother is a Ph.D. college professor who spends much of her time reading, writing, teaching, and staying on top of current world events.  One current event that she is not in tune with is the Kardashians.  Late last year, my sis DS and I were over my mother's house and we were talking.  Sis DS, an attorney by trade, was pouring over the pages of the latest InTouch magazine (not the kind of literature my mother had hoped either of us would frequent).  DS and I were discussing the latest important ins and outs of celebrity news.  Sis DS pointed out a picture of the Kardashians to me.   My mother overheard her and said "But what is a Kardashian? I have heard talk of this but I do not understand.  What is a Kardashian?"  Sis DS and I then explained.

Never thought I would do it but here is my first Kardashian post!  It all stemmed from me seeing Kourtney Kardashian's house shown on several websites last week (Domaine Home had a great overview of Kourtney's house...it was designed by the very nice celebrity interior designer Jeff Andrews).  Seeing the photos of Kourt's kitchen got me thinking about their family's  famed E! Entertainment t.v. show (yes I admit I have watched) and how often the Kardashians (Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Kris Jenner) are often in their kitchens. (Deep thinking clearly on my part...!)

So today...I'll make it simple...you get to pick...which Kardashian kitchen do you like best?

CLEAN LINES & SIMPLE DESIGN

As this first month of 2014 races by...I am thinking about ways that I might streamline the interior decor in my tiny little cottage in the Hollywood Hills (to see my house click here). My home is pretty neutral in tone...I have lots of texture and pattern going on. While I probably wouldn't remove all of the different prints (very COCOCOZY Collection to layer patterns)...might I consider going the clean line, simple design route. I love my home...but something to consider. Just spent last night shredding documents from 2005! Oy vey. Have to organize today.

Anyhooo... I love this all black and white home from Anna Leena's Home blog. The cleanest of clean lines and a monochromatic design scheme. No frills, no fuss. Refreshing. Leaves room to think.

What do you think of this super super minimalistic design and decor?

Happy Monday! Happy Martin Luther King Day!

P.S. Taking a moment today of course to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King and all of the amazing things he did for our country. People like him, who have a vision about making things better for everyone, are truly truly inspiring. Happy b-day MLK!

ROOM TO LOVE 1.16.14

What a fantastic kitchen. A study in textures and contrast. A brick floor, floor to ceiling subway tile walls, arched encasement windows, open shelving, and an exposed reclaimed wood ceiling all in one. Sounds like it may or may not all work together...but this picture says it all. Rustic, elegant, modern...love.

Happy Thursday!

$30 MILLION DOLLAR PARK VIEW PENTHOUSE - SEE THIS HOUSE

A $29.5 million dollar Park Avenue penthouse on the market - a holiday present for someone?  Anyone?  Anyone?

Listed by Sothebys agent Serena Boardman, this duplex two story home is 12 rooms - 5 bedrooms, 6 baths (3 full + 3 partial) in 6,286 sq. ft.

The apartment is on the 30 and 31st floor of a high end condominium building. 52 large windows, 10 foot ceilings, large rooms including a state-of-the-art kitchen, library and media room.

Love the light colored herringbone wood floors and the very architectural steel stair railing.

Take a tour...

Love the light colored herringbone wood floors in the main living room and bottom floor. (above)

Gleaming state-of-the-art chef's kitchen with stainless steel cabinets (above)

Very cool architectural steel railing on the stairs leading to the 2nd floor. (above)

City rooftop views and a glimpse of Central Park. (above)

2nd floor media room. (above)

Question I always have to ask...would you take it or leave it if money were not an issue but you could only have one home. Hmmm....thinking...I would take it for 5 years then give it to someone else. How does that sound?

Happy Monday!

P.S. Working on 2014 COCOCOZY collection. Lots to do before the end of the year and so little time. Literally just days and counting.  Some new looks! So excited to share with you.  Will be able to give you a glimpse in January.

P.P.S. Must holiday shop every night this week. I am so behind! Arghhh... Also, have to plan my Christmas Eve dinner...now. Oy.

P.P.P.S. Had a nice weekend with TE. Went to drinks at the Polo Lounge on Friday evening with TE (had a cold glass of champagne and enjoyed the holiday mood at the Beverly Hills Hotel), on Saturday saw a movie with TE and his son EE (we saw The Hobbit!...Had never seen any of these movies and it was quite good), and on Sunday TE and I drove around the beach areas with the top down on TE's convertible (yes, we were driving with the top down on a 75 degree day in December). A nice relaxing weekend.  Should have done at least some of my shopping.  I did none!!!! Yikes.  Help.  Need a personal shopper (or I just need to get to it like most people)!

CEMENT TILE KITCHEN

Love this kitchen!  Cement tiles, brass accents, black cabinets, subway tile backsplash, and amazing built in bookshelves.  A totally modern kitchen with a vintage warm style.  Love the stand alone turned wood leg table that acts as a kitchen island and the built in window bench seat.  Perfection.

Found this in interior designer Jessica Helgerson's portfolio.  Nice work.

To me the biggest statement in the room comes from the floor.  I am obsessed with decorative cement tiles lately.  I've ordered some samples for a project I am working on.  You can see them later today on my Instagram account @Nbaynadamas.  I love the idea of a rich pattern on the floor.  It creates so much texture and depth to the room.

An antique looking counter height wood table with turned legs acts as a stylish kitchen island (above)

Hicks Pendant Light - on sale $399 (above)

Love this gold velvet tufted sofa sitting under the window in a nook created by the kitchen's built ins (above)

What do you think of this kitchen?  Any elements you like?

Remember to follow @COCOCOZY on Instagram...I'll share my cement tile finds a little later today!

Happy Friday!

CITY KITCHEN CONFIDENCE

The kitchen in a West Village apartment with garden views.  A city apartment kitchen with a sophisticated country look.  Subway tile with dark grout line the walls, dark charcoal gray cabinets and gray trim around the large french doors, brass accents adding a bit of gleam and white marble counters.  Very nice.  A place to cook, dine, and entertain.  Lately am obsessed with having a nice size kitchen with an island.  Can imagine some day my big kitchen with an island being the focal point of my home...I would cook (yes mom I would cook), work on COCOCOZY (via laptop), drink lots of Earl Gray tea, entertain my friends and family, and some days just take some time to sit quietly and dream.

What do you like about this New York City apartment kitchen?

Happy Thursday!
