COLOR WATCH: GREEN & GOLD HOLIDAY!

close up of a Christmas tree with green and gold ornaments
Photo by Coco of COCOCOZY (above)
Found this picture above in my archives. I took this photo last year...a Christmas tree at a local hotel. I loved the color combination of green and gold for the holidays.

Today this photo has got me thinking about how I might decorate the table at my sister's house for Christmas Eve dinner...love the green centerpiece, the gold wine glasses and the white china.

Holiday table setting with gold wine glasses and green plants in a gold rectangular vase separating the two sides of the table

Or how I might use green and gold when redecorating my house...

I love this mint green living room above with gold or brass lamps, mirror and coffee table.  Room for thought!

DESIGN IDEA: TWO TONED CURTAIN DIVIDERS!

living room with mint green floor length curtains, copper tom dixon pendant, green and white striped rugs, wood floor, white sofa and brightly colored pillows

I like ceiling and wall mounted curtains used as room and space dividers in this small apartment. The mint green curtains in the living room and the coral orange in the bedroom work.  Drapery in two different complimentary colors to create a horizontal fade (or ombre look) effect.  I like.

Using a wall mounted drape is great for concealing an area or for defining separate spaces in a small apartment, flat or home.  Good small space saving idea I think.

Also, I think these little rooms look so bright and cheerful and colorful. Love the mix of colors!  Also love the copper pendant light and striped rugs in the living room.

What do you think of this design idea?  Like or dislike?

Happy Thursday!

P.S.  Below are a few more pictures of COCOCOZY Headquarters (HQ) in Beverly Hills where we used a ceiling mounted drape on a track to conceal our storage racks. Our offices are indeed quite small so this trick worked for us.  We used the COCOCOZY Logo Linen fabric in Gray.  Design wise the office is still a work in progress.  Need to now decorate.  Have had no time though!

P.P.S.  Yesterday, a friend of mine who is the head of talent for a cable network asked us to put together a last minute holiday gift proposal for him - gifts he possibly wants to give to some people in his organization within the next week.  So, in less than an hour, CM and JW did a quick photo shoot at COCOCOZY HQ to showcase some of our gift items.  JW shot the photos and CM styled and put together a whole proposal for my network executive friend. Below is the fruits of the little shoot and the proposed gift assortment they came up with featuring our COCOCOZY Logo Lucite Trays and some COCOCOZY Candles.  Thank you CM and JW.  Nice work.  We don't know if my cable network executive friend will end up going with our gifts but I think the COCOCOZY team did a great job of putting our best foot forward!

P.P.P.S.  So thrilled (and relieved)...We got our COCOCOZY Logo Lucite trays back in stock as of yesterday!   We're shipping all today and tomorrow.  A nice whirlwind of buzz for these trays meant that we sold out almost immediately.   Now we are back in business just in time to ship for the holiday.  Still not too late to order yours!

P.P.P.P.S.  12/12/12 was a very interesting day for us at COCOCOZY.  Hopefully I'll be able to talk about  it soon.

P.P.P.P.P.S. The other night was out to dinner with CM and he made a good point about putting things in perspective and appreciating your life now.  He said one of his favorite songs is Carly Simon's Anticipation...CM said every time he hears the lyrics in that song "These are the good old days, these are the good old days....", he remembers to appreciate the moments in his life now.  While sitting at a fantastic dinner with me and JW on Tuesday night, CM gleamed and smiled and said..."You guys these are the good old days.  We're in them right now.  These are them. Let's take a moment and really really enjoy these times now because later we'll be calling these days the "good old" ones."  He's right.

MINT & MARBLE - HOW TO MAKE A SMALL MODERN KITCHEN WORK!

kitchen with gold faucet, mint cabinets, marble slab backsplash and matching counter

I like this small kitchen with its flat front ever so slightly mint colored cabinets and the marble slab backsplash and counters. This small space works.

A one wall kitchen that is oh so small but feels light and airy and roomy. The key is the light colored cabinets, the white washed wood floors and the clean lines used throughout. There is no busy mosaic tile backsplash here. There is also an absence of drawerrs and doors with pulls and knobs and recessed panels. Clean simple.

I like the touch flavor with the gold or brass colored faucet on the sink. Very nice contrast.

To add a bit of personality, the eat in kitchen boasts a long table with mish mosh mix of chairs including some bentwood cafe style chairs and a host chair painted in a dark green to compliment the cabinets.  The round pendant light in chrome mirror finish adds light with its reflective surface too.

I like. Take a look.

PERFECTLY PLEASING BEDROOM!

Pastel bedroom with an upholstered headboard, Chevron carpet with a Hermes Birkin on the white tufted bench

I like this room.  Very soothing.  Defintely a place where I could rest...a lot...! Love the Hermes Birkin on the white tufted bench at the foot of the bed too.  I'm normally not a pastel girl...but this room is refreshingly pleasant.  Don't you think?

Happy Tuesday!

COLOR WATCH: MINT & GOLD!

hallway of doors and mirrors with mint walls and gold decorative molding
A hallway of doors and mirrors with mint walls and gold decorative molding! (above)

I am obsessed with mint colored things this summer for some reason.  So drawn to it that earlier this year I designed a mint colored pillow for the COCOCOZY textiles collection - our COCOCOZY Arch Sea Foam pillow.  I am considering buying a pair of mint sandals for my summer travels too.  I'm a mintaholic right now...help?

Loving mint combined with gold.  That's the combo of the day for today's COLOR WATCH!

P.S.  Happy and sad to report that I spent yesterday working...happy to have gotten a lot done...sad that I was working on such a beautiful gorgeous Sunday here in Los Angeles.  I was over at COCOCOZY HQ (again not really a headquarters...just two small rooms in a slightly shabby office (or errr vintage) building in Beverly Hills).  I don't get to spend much time working out of COCOCOZY HQ as I am working during the day at my regular job...and I haven't really been able to go at night because I had them take out the not so pretty office lighting that was in the office when we got it...and just on last Thursday we  finally put up our own mercury glass pendant lights over the temporary conference table.  Am also still waiting on lots of furniture, lighting, window coverings and office accessories...all on order and expected to arrive at the end of August...the loot includes a cool table from France. Until then we are using temporary tables and shelves.  We have some new chairs I like, some pendant lights (still looking for a chandelier for the front room), and we had our sewing room make a huge drape in COCOCOZY Logo gray that hangs across the front room to conceal storage...the drapes are hanging from a track on the ceiling.  Anyhoooooooo...all of this to say the office still isn't done...but it was fun getting to work out of there yesterday.  C & E who are working out of the office seem to be okay with the slow decorating progress and say they like it and the location.  One step at a time...I guess. Want this to be done soon...but must have patience I guess!

COCOCOZY HQ in progress
Sneak peak progress report - COCOCOZY HQ only 1/4th done - Using a temporary table and missing lots of furniture, accessories and window coverings...but have gray hardwood floors, chairs, COCOCOZY Logo fabric and cute pendant lights.  Waiting on permanent conference table, a fretwork desk, huge display shelves, some vintage lamps, a chandelier for the front room, roman shades and so much more...oy vey...just stressed myself out! (above)

COCOCOZY HQ
Before COCOCOZY -  Before we moved in, the office  had weird office lighting, vertical blinds, and carpeting.

P.P.S.  Check out COCOCOZY Pinterest to see some of the furniture and lighting I am considering for the office...and let me know what you think.  Any suggestions?

P.P.P.S.  Once we get all of the permanent furniture and I've put the on the finishing touches, I will do a big photo shoot and reveal what the COCOCOZY HQ office looks like sometime in the fall.

P.P.P.P.S.  Happy Monday!

I like this coastal living room. Bright, cheerful, great ocean views. Am not normally a pastels girl...but I like the way the pastel colors work in this living space...I also might this summer even venture into a few pastels in my wardrobe.

P.S.  Best of friend AM and her family are gone.  I miss them.  Was so happy to have spent a week with them...even though I was working all of the time.

P.P.S.  On Saturday night, I went to the best party ever...it was thrown as a birthday party for Kristi Bender of Wendy Schwartz Design.  Kristi's husband threw the party for her.  It was at her fabulous home here in Los Angeles and it was the best party ever!  There was a DJ, great music, a shiny white dance floor in the middle of the privet enclosed backyard, glittering decorations, a special cocktail called the Kristi Bender, a hot dog stand with vegetarian, turkey and custom beef hot dogs, great lighting throughout and all of the french doors of the house were tossed open so guests could enjoy the beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces.  It was spectacular!  I only had my blackberry with me but I tweeted a few photos on COCOCOZY Twitter.  Wish I had taken my camera.  So many great entertaining ideas!  Maybe I can convince Kristi to do a guest post! My friends AG and HW were there and so was Kristi's nice friend CL.  I also ran into Kristi's business partner Wendy Schwartz and her husband...they were so nice to chat with.  Also saw Alexandra and Billy Kimball there and was able to have a quick chat with them too - Alexandra looked quite stylish.  Oh did I mention, Kristi looked fantastic in a dress that a friend of hers made for her... it was gorgeous. Okay...need to get Kristi to do a post on her bday party.  I hope she has pictures.

COLOR WATCH: SEA FOAM OR MINT - NAMING Nbaynadamas FABRIC COLORWAYS - WAS I WRONG OR RIGHT!

Mint green living room with floor to ceiling windows, a white sofa with two armchairs, a white fireplace, built in bookcase and a round coffee table

Late last year, when designing new offerings for the 2012 Nbaynadamas textiles collection, I wanted to go with some soothing colorways for my fabric patterns.  I was browsing the web a few days ago and came across this picture of this lovely soothing city living room and it reminded me of the colors I chose for this year's pillow collection.

So, during my so called design process (which is hardly a process...and more of a race to finish everything in time for market), I decided on a pale green blue for one of my main colors for the year and I called it Sea Foam because it reminded me of the color of that froth that sits on top of the water after a wave crashes onto shore. I was so sure of my color name choice. So sure. I pronounced, "I now name you SEA FOAM!" and then the audience roared.  I went forward with this name with a strong conviction.  I put it in the new 2012 Nbaynadamas catalog and called it Sea Foam, I went to market in January/February with it and described it as Sea Foam...and so on and so on.

After, I made this definitive decision on naming the color Sea Foam, of course being the person I am...I am now waffling.   I realized my new pale silvery green might be considered to the trained eye a totally different color...maybe Mint. I started seeing all of these stories in online magazines this month about mint and celadon and pale green...hmmmm...oy va voy.

Only after the fact, like now, did I go online and look at what people were calling Sea Foam...and for some reason I don't think the online Sea Foam matches the Nbaynadamas vision of Sea Foam.

So is my Sea Foam not Sea Foam...if not, what would you call it?

It is too late for me to change the color name...but am curious as to how off I am with the nomenclature here!  So please do weigh in! Do you see Sea Foam, Mint or something else when you look at my new colorway?  Where might you include a color like this in your home?

Happy Friday!
