SEE THIS HOUSE: WEEKEND COUNTRY CHIC!

Living room in a farmhouse with an ticking stripe armchair, throw, wood floor and wooden cabinet

I really like this Hudson Valley farmhouse designed by Sisse Jonassen of SJ Interior Design and photographed so wonderfully by Emily Gilbert.

I need a weekend house...some place to get away during the fall and winter...to cozy up and do weekend things. Instead, I am stuck in my tiny tiny tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills this weekend dealing with plumbing problems and sliding hillside issues...oy va voy...oh did I mention the fence that is in desperate need of repair?

I need a weekend getaway place...a place with no errands, no to do lists, just me, friends, several magazines and a good book (yes I said a book), with the only thing on the list is planning fun lunches and dinners with friends/family...oh my dog Mr. Boo could come too...

Living room in a farmhouse with exposed beam ceiling, a fireplace with a wood mantel, wood floor, a long white sofa, a reclaimed wood coffee table and two modern burnt orange armchairs

Dining room in a farmhouse with wood floor, reclaimed wood table, modern white seats, exposed beam ceiling and white pendant light

What do you think of this farmhouse? I really like the exposed beams and love the mix of traditional and modern in the decor. Nicely done.

Where do you go to get away on the weekends?

Happy Friday!

CABIN FEVER - A WARM WINTER RETREAT!

Living room in a cabin with knotty wood floor, a black bench style ottoman, grey sofa and armchairs with high backs

Winter and snow seem to be the theme of my last few posts!

So many people I know are either stuck in snowy weather or voluntarily trekking to snowy weather to enjoy the holidays.

If I were stuck in the snow...I'd want to be stuck in this cabin. If I were voluntarily heading to the snow, I'd want to head to this cabin.

Oooooooohhhh friend FF just built a gorgeous 8,000 square foot house outside of Vail...it is GORGEOUS. Am hoping some day I'll put a bit of it on Nbaynadamas. I think it is one of those ski in/ski out places. She sent me a photo and it looks like a stunning lodge! I can't wait to visit. She and her family are there now!

Surrounded by mounds of white snow in a little tiny glen this cozy cabin is perfect...I would love to spend hours in front of that stone fireplace! Wouldn't you?

Cabin in the woods in winter

Oh, I also love the canoe hanging from the ceiling. I should put a canoe in my little cottage in the Hollywood Hills and see what people think!

Happy Tuesday!

DESIGN HUNTING IN A HUDSON VALLEY HOME!

Foyer of a modern Hudson Valley home with chartreuse deer sculptures and a white Harry Allen boot umbrella stand

Another colorful and whimsical home from fab New York interior designer Ghislaine Vinas. This time she's designed a truly modern day hunting "lodge" of sorts with a trophy wall and all - but not a real trophy wall :-). The designer and home owner are both animal loving but wanted to have fun with a collection of animal sculptures in this weekend house outside of New York City...so Ghislaine decided to add in fake deer and buck sculptures she found online. Throughout the house, there are different animals and insects popping up in the decor...including an ominous owl over a bed and an electric green snail on a bookshelf!

To make the house even more visually interesting, color also plays an important roll. Ghislaine starts with a neutral color palate of white and greys on the walls but then injects pops of yellow, bright green, red and teal into the home.

Always fun to browse through a Ghislaine designed space...take a look.

For some reason I'm very intrigued by the chandelier in the room with the bunk beds. I am also liking the dining room and foyer...simple, clean with a touch of fun added in.

Which room is your favorite room?

Hope you have a fabulous Tuesday!
