The exterior of an expansive country house in the Adirondacks as seen from the lake view with snow on the ground. (above)
So it is FREEEZING in Los Angeles right now. This time when I say freezing at least it is close to freezing temperatures at night...really. As I have my fireplace going and I'm bundled up all cozy at home (I look slightly ridiculous right now with a turtleneck on, sweats, a hooded sweatshirt and big wool socks on...lol!), I thought of these pictures I saw on architect Peter Pennoyer's website.
Love this mountain country retreat in upstate New York! The perfect place to cozy up by the fire and enjoy the cold weather.
Side view of the exterior of the mountain country house. House is painted black with red trim and natural tree trunk supports. (above)
A striking foursome of black Adirondack chairs is lined up on the home's porch providing a great spot for taking in the views in both the summer and winter. (above)
Wood paneled living room with vaulted ceilings, an enormous antler chandelier and striking stone fireplace and mantel create a space that is the ultimate in rustic decor chic. (above)
A window seat in the living room is nestled in a nook under a bay window. (above)
Detail of this country house's main stairs case railing that is crafted from tree branches and logs. Notice the use of a variety of natural woods in the unfinished wood walls and the rough hewn wood block stairs. (above)
A country dining table and chairs anchor the breakfast room which is surrounded by windows on three sides and features a bead board ceiling and log columns. Almost has the feeling of a very grand log cabin. (above)
The back staircase is a study in country refinement. Off white stairs are lined with long avocado green staircase runner that compliments the green paneled wainscoting and trim. A muted yellow wallpaper adds subtle contrast. (above)
The long barn is a dream! Love this refined outdoor barn with several arched barn doors! (above)
What do you think of this country house?
