Just got back from New Orleans today. Still thinking about the marvelous weekend spent there at the home of best friend FF, her husband CCF and their darling son (my godson) CGF.

As mentioned in previous posts, this was the big holiday party weekend at the house. A very posh event for the family and their friends. I, of course, insert myself every year...wouldn't miss this party!

The morning of the party, elite event planner Delaney Todd Bagwell was running around with flowers and forms in hand getting ready to do his work on flower arrangements for party. No poinsettias in his arrangements! He managed to create a myriad of holiday arrangements that were festive but subtle. Loved them. Here they are.

In the main entry hall, an assortment of floral arrangements is placed to greet the guests. The mixture of white star gazer lilies, pine tree branches, eucalyptus leaves, red berries and a touch of red food coloring in the clear vases make these flower arrangements fit well with the holiday theme. The ladies parlor is brightened up with table flower arrangements placed in beautiful porcelain bowls. Hydrangea and white star gazer lilies get a dash of holiday spirit when a few pine sprigs are thrown into the mix! (above and below)

I think the key lesson to be learned here is that holiday flower arrangements don't have to just be a mix of the expected and perhaps cliche pointsettias and holly. There is a way to create the holiday spirit without having it be too kitschy. These beautiful and elegant floral arrangements simply and effectively "whisper" Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
