BEVERLY HILLS BOUGAINVILLEA - WEEKEND PHOTO

Greystone Mansion garden hot pink bougainvillea flowers estate

Another photo from the Greystone Mansion garden in Beverly Hills.  Took this last weekend.   Love this glimpse of the garden with so many types of plants including this hot pink bougainvillea intertwined throughout the grasses.  An endless garden with a magnificent city view!

Happy Sunday!

Hope you are having a great weekend.

WEEKEND PHOTO - GREYSTONE MANSION

Greystone Mansion Beverly Hills lily pond garden landscaping estate manor

Went over to a design show house at Greystone Mansion yesterday in Beverly Hills. Love snooping around a 46,000 square foot house and walking the grounds. No photos were allowed inside. I took this photo of a lily pond in the garden though. Lovely landscaping and architecture. The house was built in the 1920s by the Doheny family and it is quite an architectural wonder. TE and his son EE came with me. They seemed to have enjoyed the tour. We went to the Soho House after, had a late lunch, and played pool (yes, I tried to play pool...).

Hope you are having a great weekend. Seeing my mom later this morning...looking forward to it.

Happy Sunday!

DRESSING ROOM DOORS - WEEKEND PHOTO

White walk in closet fretwork doors barcelona stools glossy paint

Oh what I wouldn't do for a dressing room with doors like these.  Fretwork carved doors in a closet.  Love! The lace-like detail lets just the right amount of light through.  Great doors.  I also like the glossy paint used on the cabinets, drawers, ceiling and walls in this walk-in closet.  Makes the small space shine.  Nice closet...right?

Happy Saturday!

SECRET GARDEN - WEEKEND PHOTO

Secret garden and iron gate in Charleston, SC

Happened upon this pretty last weekend. A charming enchanting intriguing mysteriously beautiful garden door and gate. Was roaming through the streets of Charleston, SC with a large group of friends (we were all there for TF and KF's fantastically lovely wedding). CCF, DH and I were taking our time walking through the streets while everyone else barreled ahead towards the shops. The guys were checking out the plaques on all of the houses to find out which was the oldest...I was furiously snapping photos. Trying to take all of Charleston home with me in my little camera it seemed. I paused and looked up from the camera screen and I saw this. A breathtakingly sweet black garden gate door, surrounded by an ivy covered wall and it was wide open.  Behind the gate...a mossy brick covered patio, a fountain in the distance I think, some iron furniture and lovely cobalt blue pottery.  Felt like a dream.  Oh how I wanted to just open that gate, walk in and take a seat and enjoy.  I did not...don't worry...

So now, back in Los Angeles, this is my weekend photos.  Memories of a lovely weekend past.

WEEKEND PHOTO - FLOWER IT UP

white hydrangea on COCOCOZY bedroom dresser flowers mirror lamp

Add some flowers. That is my decor suggestion to you for this weekend.

Best of friend AM and her family left yesterday. They were staying with me for a quick visit at my tiny little cottage in the Hollywood Hills. In addition to a million other "refreshers" to my place...I added fresh flowers throughout. White hydrangea, white tulips and white orchids in every room.

Here's a little shot of my bedroom dresser...with one big puffy hydrangea bloom in a small square glass vase.  Makes me smile.

Will be spending part of the weekend with TE. Got a text from TE yesterday morning as I was chatting with best of friend AM. The text started off as follows, "Honey I just want to say how wonderful it is...". That's all I could see in the preview. I was sure the text was filled with wonderful sweet nothings...romance. I'm sharing the full text with you so you can understand what I'll be doing this weekend.

Actual text message from boyfriend TE: "Honey I just want to say how wonderful it is...that it's opening weekend of the NFL and the 49ers are playing the Green Bay Packers."

Hmmm....classic.

Needless to say...I can imagine football will be part of my weekend!  Football and flowers...the yin and yang of the weekend.

Happy Saturday! Happy weekend!

WEEKEND PHOTOS - KAUAI TRAVEL LOG

This week, one "Weekend Photo" will not be enough.

I got back from Kaua'i late Tuesday night after a week long visit there with TE.  My first visit to Hawaii ever.  What a fantastic time!

So much to see, so many naturally beautiful scenes...unscripted, not manufactured, a tropical paradise island showing off its natural design!

Thank you to TE for taking me to Hawaii! :-)  It was truly a spectacular holiday!

For those of you who can't get away this summer on vacation (I know how that is, not being able to take vacation, as this was my first real week long vacation in years), I hope these pictures transport you to this island paradise for a few minutes, you enjoy and can exhale a bit.

Happy Saturday!

P.S.  I had quite a few of my own "I Love Lucy" moments on the trip...including me screaming my lungs out during a dip in the helicopter ride -- the other couple in the helicopter, TE and the pilot were all fine with a little drop in altitude...I on the other hand let out a scream as if I had actually been pushed out of the helicopter.  Also, there were all of the histrionics of me getting into the pool or the ocean - I need swimming waters to be about 85 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer (at least)...the waters in Hawaii were anywhere between 79 and 82 degrees...so each time I got into the water I first put a toe in, then rubbed water all over my body, then inched my way into the water while careful dripping water over my stomach and arms,  shivering the whole time and clacking "it's so cold, so cold, sooo cold" - meanwhile not one other person (the normal people) we saw was doing this routine but me, they all thought the water was warm enough...TE just patiently smiled each time.

P.P.S.  Hope you have a happy weekend.

BLUE TILE - WEEKEND PHOTO

Mysterious blue hallway Moroccan tiles

Hi there! Love this photo.  A mysterious passageway cloaked in wonderful Moroccan looking blue tiles.

Did a post about my mom and sister DS going to Morocco last year...they visited the enchanting city of Chefchaouen...a city painted in vibrant blues.   This hallway reminds me of the images sis DS had sent from there.

If I had a big enough home, I would find a hall to paint this gorgeous blue and then cover the walls and floors in this kind of tile.  I would.

Happy weekend!

WEEKEND PHOTO

Hope you have a happy restful weekend!

This bedroom is simple bliss.  A striped bed spread, diaphanous white drapes, a decorative mirror, pitched ceilings with exposed beams, lots of light and that is it.

I like.
