Yesterday, I dragged AZ with me to an annual showcase house put on by Veranda magazine over at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. While I had heard of Greystone for years, I had never been to the historic estate. I was born and raised in Los Angeles...and I wasn't even quite clear where Greystone was...until yesterday. Yesterday was my chance.

So I got tickets to go this showcase house tour that friend JD had told me about (I had missed the apparently chic cocktail opening party a few weeks back due to a previously scheduled engagement). For Veranda's Great House showcase, dozens of interior designers each take a room at Greystone and decorate to their hearts desire.

Anyhoo...yesterday, it was very unseasonably hot...fires were blazing all around Los Angeles and Orange County...quite a bit of chaos in the land of sunshine! But up at the Greystone Mansion, the chaos of real life was gone; sitting in the gardens and the courtyard was like stepping back in time. I spent about an hour wandering around the gardens and grounds as I waited for AZ (who was having her own chaotic day and wasn't feeling well...poor AZ), I was absolutely charmed and delighted.

The 46,000 square foot, 55 room mansion was built in 1928 by the Doheny oil family and is now owned by the city of Beverly Hills. The architectural style of the exterior is called Gothic English on the estate's official website...it is a huge imposing castle like structure made of grey Indiana limestone.

Over the next few days...will show you several rooms in this historic estate as designed for this Veranda showcase house.

Hope you enjoy!
