This is the table GH built.

Can you figure out how much it cost to make this table? 10 readers must attempt to guess the price in the "comments" section before I reveal the truth and mention the name of the reader who comes closest to the actual price!

Until then, here is the backstory on this do-it-yourself table design...

After seeing a glass and metal trestle desk/table on William Sonoma Home's website (see Mason Desk picture below), for weeks, GH has been trying to figure out how to avoid the $1350 price tag of the store bought version and has been wanting to make his own.

GH wanted a glass console table for behind the sofa in his main living room...a piece that could double as a sofa table and a desk. He wrestled with the idea of paying retail for the William Sonoma version...for exactly one minute...but then decided he would make his own glass top trestle table.

I was the biggest naysayer (nagging naysayer I might add)..."GH just buy the full price version, this is ridiculous", "You can't make your own table; a total waste of time when it is right there in the store, this is ridiculous", "It is not going to look right, this is ridiculous", "Sometimes you have to understand that it is okay to pay a significant amount of money for something nice for your home (tone -definitively patronizing. thought bubble- this is ridiculous)". And the naysaying went on and on and on...

Without any friend support, GH industriously ventured out on his own to make his homemade glass top trestle table with a polished metal base. His first stop (or should I say "only" stop)...Craigslist (Los Angeles). It seems Craigslist is the mecca for anyone looking for anything.

After combing Craigslist, GH first found the large piece of glass. A polished metal base was nowhere in site however. Then, I guess, weeks later. after more Craislisting (I think many hours (or minutes) went into this online computer search), came the dark sawhorse wood legs (which he bought from a guy who lives (or was it works) at the Barker Hanger at the Santa Monica airport??? Confusing type story that usually goes along with Craigslists purchases) that would end up being a slight compromise as they were not polished metal. Not polished metal but exactly on point as far as design. Finally, GH purchased some rubber floor protectors used at the bottom of table and chair legs to put under the glass....and tah dah...voila...abracadabra...a table...a pretty good looking table!

GH...congrats on a table well made! Can you make more (kidding...of course...well kind of...)?

End of naysaying (for now).

Now that you've seen GH's DIY homemade table...how much do you think it cost to make? Click on comments section right below and guess!

I'll reveal the truth about how much it cost after 10 readers have played this guessing game. I'll also give a shout out in a post to the reader who comes closest to the right price. Good luck!
