Still in New Orleans staying at FF and CCF's grand manse on St. Charles Avenue. Yesterday's holiday party was FANTASTIC. There were flash floods in the late afternoon and early evening but New Orleans' bravest and finest still showed up for both parties.
Before the festivities began, I managed to sneak in some photos of the home's holiday decor as fashioned by event planning expert Delaney Todd Bagwell.
This post is about decorating a fireplace mantel for the holidays. These three fireplaces are in three different rooms in this historic home that happens to belong to my friends. Hope this gives you some ideas for yours.
FIREPLACE #2 - In the ladies parlor, the carved stone fireplace mantel is adorned with feminine and delicate decor - a cedar/pine bows, faux frosted gold grapes, star gazer lilies in simple clear vases and gold candlesticks all create simple but festive mantel decor. (above and below)
FIREPLACE #3 - The men's parlor mantle decor is rustic and simple featuring a fresh garland, pine cones and nuts covering the gorgeous marble fireplace. (above and below)
New York and New Orleans based event planner Delaney Todd Bagwell made these nut topiaries himself. They are long lasting and are simple to make. He simply took a cone shaped form, placed it in a white urn and using glue, covered the form with unshelled nuts like almonds, pecans, chestnuts. (above and below)
My favorite of everything featured here is this nut covered topiary. Love it and love the fact you can use it for many years!
