Here's a cute rocker chic apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Friend TL says that I've been doing too many New York roomscapes...he said "People do live other places you know...you need to get out of New York and show more...". As most of you know, I don't even live in New York. I was born and raised a Los Angeles girl and as I've mentioned a billion times, I now live in the smallest cottage in the world in the Hollywood Hills (I'm going to contact the Guiness Book of World Records to see if my "housette" may qualify for something...good idea? bad idea?).
Okay...focus...I do have a huge predilection towards New York City though. My best of friend Anne lives there with her family (nice hubby John and cute kiddies) and I used to live in the city on the Upper West Side...when the Upper West Side was tres cool (was the Upper West Side ever "tres cool"?...). This is all to explain to TL the connection between me and NYC.
Now this does not mean the rest of the country doesn't exist. Please readers...send me images or ideas of amazing spaces in the rest of country...I would LOVE to see and post. So there TL...I am open to the rest of this wonderful country and seeing spaces everywhere.
But for now...here's another NY apartment.
Bizarre aside...another non sequitur...on the phone with NYC Anne right now who was supposed to baby sit for her friend's hamster Lolly - a NYC hamster. Anne just found out that she is relieved from her hamster sitting duties because Lolly the NYC hamster just passed away. Poor Lolly. Her friend is trying to figure out how she will tell her kids that Lolly has passed away...the possible solution to avoid difficult death conversation with kids...get Lolly 2 before they realize Lolly 1 has passed on... :-) This is not my idea...this is what was suggested to the now distraught former hamster owners by other friends. If Lolly 2 does replace the now deceased Lolly 1, Anne will still have hamster baby sitting duties btw...get ready for a hamster Anne! Meanwhile there is a whole email chain circulating among Anne's friends about what to do with this "Lolly gate"...Anne, I'd like to point out is a mother of two and a busy investment banker...but this hamster dilemma is top priority in NYC right now! It is stories like these that make me love NY even more...!
Okay...so this apartment...geez I can't seem to focus.
Found these cool images in Vogue from Diego Garcia's (a musician of some sort) Upper East Side apartment that he shares with his wife Laura, a French bulldog and their little baby girl.
I like this eclectic mix. Something classically edgy...modern with hints of traditional and bohemian all in one. Loving the black dining room, all of the modern art, the Milo Baughman black chairs and the Karl Springer table and poufs in the living room and finally that lucite console table that serves as a desk.
Mid century classics make a nice vignette in the apartment's black dining room...a Saarinen tulip table and Bertoia wire chairs are perfectly set in the compact eating space. (above) |
What do you think of this NYC apartment? What would be your ideal city apartment? Would you ever live in NYC?
Please send in those photos from around the country so I can break the NY/LA Nbaynadamas cycle for TL. Please... (Nbaynadamas@gmail.com).
Happy Monday!
