KELLY WEARSTLER BEYOND BOLD DESIGN STYLE

Kelly Wearstler bedroom brass canopy bed
Kelly Wearstler designed bedroom with a fantastic brass canopy bed! (above)
I don't think I have done any posts on uber fashion and interior designer Kelly Wearstler before if you can believe it.  The reason I say, "if you can believe it", is that Kelly is slowly but surely taking over the world...with clothing collections, home furnishings lines and so much more. I admire the empire she has built and her unique style.

I was just on the design maven's website and found these 5 rooms she designed that I find boldly intriguing.  I tend to like things a little less done...Kelly's style on the other hand is all about layers, lots of glam, lots of textures.  She has a legion of devotees among those in the interior design world.

It's in these five Kelly Wearstler designed rooms, I found a bold elegance that I really like...spaces I could live in....spaces I would want to visit.

FOUR POSTER & CANOPY BEDS - HIGH STYLE

Regal bedroom with a traditional canopy bed

I imagine one day I'll have a guest room with a canopy or four poster bed in it. I like this high style in the bedroom. Something regal and romantic about a bed with so much height to it!

THIS OR THAT?: BRIGHT BEDROOMS!

White bedroom with large rustic windows, a wood headboard and blue and white floral bedding

Was able to sleep in a bit this Saturday morning. Felt fantastic!  Woke up at 5:15a when my alarm first went off...woke up again at 6:30a thinking it was Friday and I had to go to work...then went back to sleep and all of a sudden it was 8a.  Ahhh...rest!

Love a comfy bed...and I also love waking up to sunlight.

Which of these two light bright bedrooms do you prefer?

modern rustic bedroom with canopy bed, wood floors, a plaid throw and white floor length curtains

So which of these two rooms would you want to wake up in on a Saturday morning?  Do tell.  Are they too bright or just right?

So I'm thinking...I would like to wake up in the room with the canopy bed and take a summer afternoon nap in the little guest room with the big open windows!  Is that a cop out?  Okay...let me pick.  I think I'd chose the first because of the wonderful windows...the bed is a little small but I love the blue and white coverlet.  So I pick #1.  You?

Happy Saturday!

WONDERFULLY WHITE BEDS!

White bed with a beautiful carved panel headboard and eyelet bedspread
A white eyelet bedspread with a fantastic carved panel headboard. (above)

Res ispsa loquitur - Latin phrase meaning "the thing speaks for itself" (a term I learned in law school...may be the one of the few things I remember from my law school days!).

A white bed stands for itself.

I LOVE a wonderfully all white bed. Clean, crisp, no nonsense, no frills, relaxing, refreshing...the best.

I have some kind off white linens on my bed right now...I think they are cream (yikes). I have some wonderful white bedding standing by...I'm waiting until spring to bring it out.

Lovely canopy beds with wispy drapes and white bed linens are perfect in this room with stone walls and flooring. (above)

bedroom with iron framed floor to ceiling windows with a view, a large wall with floral wallpaper, a wood floor and a simple white bed
When you have iron framed floor to ceiling windows with a view and a large wall with floral wallpaper, the only answer is a simple white bed. (above)
What do you think of an all white bed? Love or not love? Do you like a blank slate or do you like a little color and pattern? Do you think it is practical? Please advise!

Happy Thursday!

SUBTLY SILVER - A STUNNING GUEST ROOM IN PALE GREY!

Silver guest bedroom with decorated molding, a crown canopy over an iron day bed with silver accent pillows, a lucite side table holding a silver lamp and a grey Chinese garden stool

I like this traditional silver guest room. Something about it works for me. Is it the big picture...or is it all the details? Can't be sure...all I know is that it works. Something sophisticated and soothing about this bedroom. I always like any kind of decorative molding and this room has it...check.  The rug is quite fantastic too...check.  I even like the crown canopy over the iron daybed...usually not my style...but here it works...check!

Perfect.

Alternate view of the grey bedroom where you can see a round wood table, a silver chair, a white armchair, a white ottoman holding a tray full of books and a long, white accent table

RUSTIC, REAL & ROMANTIC - THREE BEDROOMS TO LOVE!

White bedroom with light wood floor, black nightstand with a metal desk lamp, blue accent pillows on the bed and a light bulb chandelier

Oh what I wouldn't do for a morning to sleep in. A warm bed with a big duvet cover surrounding me...waking up...slowly...deciding whether to sleep some more or whether to start the day...two options...hmmm...what should I do...doze back to sleep?

Cut to reality...one blackberry alarm goes off at 5am. I always sleep through that one. A second blackberry alarm goes off at 5:45a and I usually sleep through that one too...but am totally agitated because I know I have to get up and blog, or do something for the Nbaynadamas collection before work. And then, on my own accord, I wake up anywhere from 6:15a-7:10a completely out of breath and panicked.

When I complained about a lack of sleep to my good friend Amie Robinson last year when all of this stuff about me launching a home furnishing collection began...she said "Well...you never really hear about people who are starting a business getting a lot of sleep. And successful people never talk about all of the extra nap time they have" When I thought about it...I realized she was right...

So now I just dream (while awake) about a lovely bedroom to spend hours and hours sleeping...any of these would do!

I like the pristine white bedroom above with the cluster light fixture, I love the rustic bedroom with the canopy bed and exposed wood, and I think the last light blue bedroom with the pretty romantic wallpaper is just dreamy.

Bedroom with painted black visible beams, black and white striped walls, a canopy bed, a reclaimed wood bench with woven seats is at the foot of the bed and a carpeted floor

Bedroom with floor to ceiling blue toile wallpaper, windows, a white nightstand, upholstered headboard and an oval pendant light

Which bedroom do you like best? Where would you most like to wake up?

Busy weekend ahead for me...dinner tonight at the Soho House, another photo shoot tomorrow morning, a facial (I have to relax a little...give me a break), the flea market on Sunday with CS and a million other things to do in between. The truck is coming to take my 100 pillow inserts, drapery, throws and some other stuff to New York today! Woooohoooo...here we go.

Happy Friday!

WINNING TWINS - MAKING TWO BEDS BETTER THAN ONE!

Children's bedroom with two twin beds with lime green spindle headboards, light purple walls, carpeted floor and a white nightstand with lime green drawers
Photo: Moises Esquenazi

Love these twin bedrooms. Perfect for children (boy, girl or even toddler soon to be tot) and/or guests. Oh how I wish I even had an extra room to decorate...for kids and guests alike.

Think these rooms are fab because they all have a bit of whimsy to them and some bold use of color. All show much design can matter in a kid's or guest room.

From fun spindle headboards, to colorful drapes and canopies, to grass cloth covered walls, to a bright Marimekko wallpaper (see last photo), to colorful bedding...these rooms pack twice the design punch of any old single bed bedroom!

My favorite is the first room with the great yellow headboards...forget the guests or children, I might just make that one my own!

Happy Wednesday! (I have the day off from work...yipppeeee)
