My dream when I started the COCOCOZY Home Furnishings Collection of pillows, throw blankets, rugs and more was to somehow figure out a way to be in Mecox Gardens.

Mecox Gardens are prestigious home furnishings stores located in some of the most posh areas in the country including Los Angeles, the Hamptons, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, New York and West Palm Beach.  The stores are amazingly curated and carry some of the finest home decor items in the country. In each store there is a mix of beautifully selected new, vintage and antique furniture and accessories.  Everything you could ever desire for decorating your house, home, apartment or mansion! ;-)

So far, COCOCOZY has made it into 3 different Mecox stores!  I am proud to say our collection is in the Los Angeles store right on La Cienega (I went in and stalked our products the other day and I could have screamed with joy).  We are in the Houston store...they were the first to buy us.

Now I am thrilled to announce COCOCOZY pillows, throws and more are in Florida at Mecox Gardens West Palm Beach!  Woohooo.  Woohooo!!

WINTER HOME LIVING ROOMS - THIS OR THAT

Aerin Lauder's amazing modern ski house! (above)

Snow storms, cold weather, the Winter Olympics on t.v., and did I mention the daytime temperature in Los Angeles hovering in the 60's...clear signs that we are definitely in the middle of winter!  I stepped out of my office in L.A. yesterday and shivered from the cold 65 degree air hitting me in the face! (I was born and raised in Los Angeles, so any temperature below 70 feels icy to me...)

I do not ski...or I refuse to ski...or I would probably injure myself if I tried to ski again.  Last time I went skiing was years ago with best of friend FF in Aspen...it was a comedy indeed...we had an Austrian ski instructor who kept saying to me "Get up...get up out of the snow Coco" and "If you do not go back up on the lift again, you will feel bad about yourself tomorrow."  I spent most of my ski time in a heap of poles and skis on the side of the mountain with 5 year olds swooshing by me with the greatest of ease.

Anyhooooo...just because I don't ski, doesn't mean mean I don't enjoy the mountains during the winter or ski in ski out living.   I spent some time last year at FF and CCF's Bachelor's Gulch home just outside of Vail...ski in ski out...with a jacuzzi...lots of fireplaces and more.  Quite lovely.

Wonder what kind of ski house living room I would rather spend my time in sitting and waiting by the fire watching skiers glide by...a quaint rustic cabin setting or a stunning modern chic mountain home?  So I bring you today a THIS OR THAT...featuring a lifestyle maven Aerin Lauder's modern ski house  living room in Aspen and another cozy classic ski lodge living room...you decide?

CLEAN LINES & SIMPLE DESIGN

As this first month of 2014 races by...I am thinking about ways that I might streamline the interior decor in my tiny little cottage in the Hollywood Hills (to see my house click here). My home is pretty neutral in tone...I have lots of texture and pattern going on. While I probably wouldn't remove all of the different prints (very COCOCOZY Collection to layer patterns)...might I consider going the clean line, simple design route. I love my home...but something to consider. Just spent last night shredding documents from 2005! Oy vey. Have to organize today.

Anyhooo... I love this all black and white home from Anna Leena's Home blog. The cleanest of clean lines and a monochromatic design scheme. No frills, no fuss. Refreshing. Leaves room to think.

What do you think of this super super minimalistic design and decor?

FIREPLACE MANTLES - THIS OR THAT

Was reading an article on Vogue's website the other day. It is about a townhouse in New York owned by documentary filmmaker Maggie Betts.  Maggie invited former first daughter Barbara Bush and friend Elliot Merck to live in two of the apartments as well.  The each created unique living spaces in a city home with unifying architectural features.

The NYC townhouse features 9 original fireplaces...all unique.  Each apartment has at least one noteworthy ornately carved stone fireplace mantle.

So which of these three fireplace looks do you like best?

Fireplace mantle 2 - Eclectic - Green Blue paint from Farrow & Ball on the walls, a large painted mirror, a Swedish crystal chandelier in the reflection. (above)

I am loving Fireplace 2 - Eclectic.  I love the wall color, the grand painted mirror, the small painting leaning against the mirror that is framed by a large modern painting on an opposing wall.  Like!

P.S. Have been helping best of friend AM with her holiday card choices this year.  Every year she sends me photos and layouts for her holiday card.  She finalized the look on Tuesday and ordered.  Then yesterday she and I went at it again on designing another second card look.  When she sent the new card to her husband JE, he wrote us both back and said "Looks great. But I thought this was finalized already?"  Oh JE!  He just doesn't understand that girls like us could deliberate over things like this forever!

P.P.S.  Going to another work dinner with TE tonight.  Must find something that is cute, festive, and business.  Got to run to pick out outfit and to chat on the phone with London best of friend AT (we are cooking up something...a plan...).

$75 MILLION DOLLAR NYC PENTHOUSE - SEE THIS HOUSE

6 bedrooms, 6 full baths, 2 partial baths in 8,274 square feet of interior space with spectacular Central Park views, this New York City penthouse is listed for a mere $75 million dollars by Sotheby's International Real Estate.

This multi million dollar real estate listing was recently gutted, renovated and redesigned by prestigious NYC interior designer Tony Ingrao.  It takes up the entire top floor of the Time Warner Center Building right in the heart of Manhattan.  High ceilings, media room, laundry center, informal dining room and a smart house system that controls lighting, heating, entertainment systems and window coverings.  This manse in the sky seems to have it all.

Now the question is...if I had $75 million to spare...would I buy this?  Let me think....

I am going to a trade show in North Carolina to show off the COCOCOZY rug collection once again!  Wooohooo!  For those of you in the design business who are going to High Point Market this weekend, I hope you will come by and say hi to me at the Capel Rugs showroom in Market Square!

It is Saturday morning. I am on the plane right now. Flying first class (thank you Capel Rugs). Heading to Charlotte, NC where a driver will pick me up and whisk me off to High Point, NC (thank you CT and CC for making my travel so wonderful). I will be in High Point for exactly 24 hours.  A dinner with the oh so sweet Capel Rug folks (CC, JM, JH, and AR) tonight, sleep (I need it), a morning/early afternoon meet and greet at the Capel showroom where all of the 24 rugs in my collection are on display.  Lastly on Sunday, right before I leave, I have a top secret meeting about a potential project...fingers crossed that this comes to fruition.

I cannot wait to see my rug collection again in person and so look forward to meeting COCOCOZY readers, buyers, designers and press.  So much fun to chat with everyone and hear their stories!

P.S.  COCOCOZY 2014 Rug Collection - I am a little afraid to see JH from Capel.  I owe him color selections for my next new rug collection that we will showing in 2014.  I am holding up the whole process.  I sent designs in over a month ago...I know what I want for color but have been too distracted to put down my thoughts in an organized manner...note to self...finish color on Monday or Tuesday.  All the color issues aside, I am really really excited about the new designs for 2014...cannot wait to show you.  If you are in the press, I may even give you a little sneak peek (via my iPhone) of one or two of my new designs!

P.P.S.  Spent the last two weekends traveling with TE.  Weird not to have him with me on this trip.  He is home this weekend recuperating from running the Chicago Marathon last weekend.   Was very impressed watching him run that race!

I developed this new embroidered collection of linen pillows under a license deal with Peking Handicraft.  Spent some time designing, picking colors and reviewing samples for this project.  It was so much fun working on this new collection with a partner who knows how to manufacture and distribute home furnishings.

The embroidered pillow collection launched this past summer to the wholesale market and I wrote a post with full details on how this license deal came about back in July.

FAMILY FRIENDLY HOME IN TORONTO WITH PERSONAL STYLE

A comfortable accessible family home in Toronto.  This home was featured on Vogue's website...apparently the home where Vogue.com contributor and blogger Sophie Young grew up. A very warm home a mix of old and new.  The home sits in a residential neighborhood in the center of Toronto.  It was an abandoned property before Sophie's parents took it over and made it their own.

A safe, stylish, fresh, personal, unpretentious space to raise a family. The decorating style combines old and new quite seamlessly along with a little whimsy in the form of color and art.  Well done.  Take a look.
